Red face Me vs. XLR vs. Carrera GT

Well, we know how this ended...

Southbound 55: I came up behind a dark silver Carrera GT and started to check it out, an XLR came crossing over the double-lined carpool/HOV lane and started toying with the Carrera GT. I too pulled on the right side of the GT. I figured the XLR wanted to see what the GT can do (as did I)

Doing about 80mph, the XLR took off. I dropped it to 4th and sped off too. Well, needless to say, the Carrera GT came smoking by us (Literally "smoked" his tires on a shift at 100+mph ) like we were standing still. He must have been at least doing 130-140+ by the end of it since the XLR was ahead of me pulling away and I was already at 115mph playing catchup.

Amazing car, sounded like a jet passing me.

XLR & CL-S = 0 points
GT = 1 point

Funny thing is, yesterday I saw the same guy and car (GT) on the freeway again. I didn't want to play this time.

the xlr would be a good highway race, but after 120 id think it would win.

dood are you crazy? that's basically a vette...thing runs like low 13s. He wouldn't have stand a chance against him. BTW, your grandma is tight.

That's one car I wouldn't even try to run... good attempt though

I think it would have been like that Mustang I ran the other day... 520whp is about 600 at the crank but hell of a lot more torque than the Carrera GT.

Wow, I stand COMPLETELY corrected. I could have SWORN someone told me it had the vette engine, but was just heavier, making it a bit slower. My dad has the new C6 vette & was considering the XLR when someone told him that. I guess that's why I'm confused. My bad man.

i know that atleast one of the models come with the corvette motor

you are thinking about the cts-v...5.7 ls6 v8...i'm not knowledgable about corvettes (i love them though) but this is the c5 z06 motor if i believe..this i'm 99%sure about

the regular cts, xrs, and others come with a 4.6 northstar v8...is that the base model c5 motor? i could be wrong about this

No problem, thats why im saying a 6 speed CL with some bolt ons would give the XLR a great race, but the XLR v8 will pull away at the high end.
