Map light rattle

there seems to be an annoying, light sounding rattle from the map light and sunglass holder. there's nothing in the sunglass holder and i've checked the sun visors and the pullouts to make sure they were all the way in. anyone else have a rattle from around the map lights?

heh, you know....i'm an engineer at Boeing and rattles are unacceptable. though i don't know anything about them.

I need to take my car in because it has a ratttle coming from the dome light (or thereabouts). It's driving me nuts...plus I think I have a new rattle in the dash somewhere. This may be off base, but I wish the CL's had been manufactured in Japan.

I'm sure the manufacturing process is supposed to be exactly the same, but I still think you'd see better quality from Japan. Just my $. 02

the map light/sun glass holder is pretty easy to remove. pop the lens off of the lights (there are two prongs fore and aft I believe), and then four screws will drop the piece. Do not remove the swivel piece you put the sun glasses into (it's a bitch to get the spring back in correctly - yup experience).

You know..what...I was just thinking about you guys always talking about rattles....and how they weren't there before.... I figured the only way you know that something is rattling is because the car is so quiet and smooth....
Besides, you have to empty you car of everything and make sure everything is secure to make judgements on whether or not he car is rattling. It could be anything!! Your coins, cd cases....the flap on the vanity mirrors not fully pushed down...well, anyway just my .02

Chances are its not your dome light. Its probably the plastic thing in your visor.

Boeing? If the B/P's our car are made from were anything like Boeing B/P's we would have doors on the roof, suspension pieces in the cup holder and God only knows what else!

say what? Commercial jets are engineering marvels with a 99.99% reliability rate. The amount of abuse and stress the parts go through is amazing....but still they can take all the abuse and continue operating for 12-16 hours a day, everyday, for 20 years. amazing!
