Titanium

Does the CL have much Titanium in its construction? If so, more than other cars of its class?

Titanium? I doubt it has any.

Thats a pretty damn expensive material for an automobile...

Anything that would be titanium is prolly aluminum or steel.

Titaniums benefit is its crazy light... prolly something you would find in Lotus's and McLaren's

I have Ti in my car! It's in the trunk with the rest of my J&J Hip and Knee repacement prosthesis. It gives me a boast!

The reason I asked is because we had a fire safety class at work today. He explained the difference between each class of fire... and that soem of the cars out there might have Titanium and Magnesium which are both flamable.
Also... the fire extinguishers spray distilled water! I should use one to wash the car....
Spell check is hosed by the way.

Your in one hell of a fire if Titanium or Magneseium ignites!!! Both of their flash points are HIGH. It's safe to assume you'd be long dead before these caught fire.

I dont think magnesium's flash point is that high. We usually burn old VW cases out in the desert. Beautful fire!!! Specially with peyote

The only car that Honda makes w/titanium parts is the NSX, with its Ti conrods.

1. high strength to volume ratio (strength in tight spots)
2. high strength to mass ratio (strength in low weights)
3. critical application (fatigue resistance)
4. chemical resistance

1,3,4 = HiTen, CroMoly
2,4 = Various aluminum alloys
1,2,3 = Carbon fibre, laid or molded
1,2,3,4 = Titanium, even more so w/Aermet

Doncha love that Ti spark that you get when you chunk your driver on a mat?
