Unhappy Jerking coming out of a stop...

Coming back home from picking up lunch, I'm at a light and it turns green. I begin to accelerate, and the car begins to jerk back and forth a couple times, kinda like you're not giving a manual enough gas while letting out on the clutch, but of course I drive an auto. Right off the bat I'm thinking up in my head all the curse words, in every language, that I know of. I come to the second red light and stop. It turns green, exact same thing happens, but this time I'm verbalizing those curse words. Now, I'm getting on the highway and everything seems normal, no big deal. I get off, and I come to another light, and I've got to slow down and eventually come to a stop. I put it in SS mode from a stop and begin to give it some gas expecting it to jerk again, but nothing, smooth as can be. Does the tranny only slip when it feels like it, or does being in SS mode keep the tranny from slipping? Also, anyone in Texas got any recommendations for an Acura dealer in Houston, Austin or SA, I'm going to need to set up an appointment at the end of the week, and I haven't had a good experience at Sterling McAll in Houston, so they won't be getting a call from me.

You can try David McDavid Acura in Austin, for the most part they're been pretty good for all the times i've been to them...though they seem to take a very long time every now and then.

So, I haven't noticed any jerking after those two times...which kind of gets me even more worried anticipating when it will happen again.

Well, I did make an appointment this friday at David McDavid in Austin, but I'm thinking about canceling it until I KNOW the tranny is about to go. I'm thinking a couple of slips isn't too much to get excited over just yet. Once it starts doing it every single time, then I'll reschedule my appointment, or once I get closer to 100k (70k atm).

it will only get worse. It is normal for the car to suddenly go into 2nd when you give it enough gas.....you are going to need a trans soon..

Pretty sure it was the tranny slipping, but it's still going and haven't had any other hiccups so far. Going to change the tranny fluid before the end of the month.

Well, this happened back in october last year, and it's time I get the tranny fluid changed per schedule. If it fails, it fails, and I get a new one.

HUH i dont get it what does changing the tran fluid have to do with making it go bad quicker????? That does not make any sense. I have also experience the slipping also today two times I had my A/C on though it was a bad feeling first thing i thought was bad tranny but i turned a/c off so no slipping? Did you have your a/c on at the time I know that its really hot down there and its hot like crazy in NC

Not sure if I had the a/c on at the time or not. I'm about 80% sure I did have it on though. If It was on, I never turned it off, and the slipping only occurred those two times from a stop.

Are you sure it isn't the torque converter doing it's thing? It seems to kinda jerk sometimes. Still tranny involved.

If I had a manual it would have felt like I wasn't giving it enough gas pulling off the clutch. I used to drive a stick, but I've never felt an automatic do anything like that before. I'm just glad it hasn't happened again for almost 10 months.

^^^ that is exactly how it feels on mine. it feels like it's sputtering and it'll surge and then slow down then surge and slow down all in a matter of a second or two. very odd and scary.

when i had my tranny replaced thats how it started, then i'd just be driving along and it would jerk, but much harder felt like i was hitting a dog or somthing every time it happened.

now im getting a problem in 1st gear at around 6k rpms it revs like its at redline almost like its stuck there, then it snaps out of it.

i was wondering if the cl has "drive by wire" or whatever acura may call it, and if there is a way to reset this, seeing i usually dont bring the car to redline it might get confused on this system idk im optimistic i guess. that also might be whats happening with yours, not sure. just a theory.

IMO I think it should be taken to Acura and get check even if it is a false alarm they should check it. If it was a tran problem then they should change it the surge should be from the a/c working b/c of heat but might be a small sign tranny is going.

Possible Transmission Problem

I Just had my '02 Cls in for service about a month ago because I thought for sure that the transmission was going bad again (3rd transmission).
To my surprise they said that they flushed and replaced the transmission fluid because it was dirty. Immediately after, the car ran beautifully until this week. I started to feel slight jerking and stuttering motions again when I start up. I'll have to wait it out to see what happens next. I now have 137,000 mile on it.
