Nope. I love my CL-S. I would not buy anything else unless I had unlimited funds.

all being equal (whatever was available at the time i bought), and of all the choices i had in mind at the time, i should've went with the 430clk and waited 2 months for it considering my dealership experience.

so yes, thanks to l.v. acura, i do regret buying this car.

Lehigh Valley Acura? What did they do wrong? I got mine there. I don't regret it. I hear people complain about the paint, but I was hit by a few stones on route 22 near Allentown. No chips.

CLK 430 is for $55,000 you could buy the best M3 for this amount of money? Fully optioned would be some $65k+ I would be an M5 instead..... Yeah the silver star is for those who can burn $100,000 a night!

If I was doing it all over again...

No doubt would I buy a CLS.

But now that I have a CLS... when I go shopping again I will get something new. Just for a change.

But Acura is my first & my true love... so if I get rid of my CLS before the next major change to the car... you can bet I will be back in a CLS when they upgrade it again.

If I had to do it again, I would have got one with navi. and an ebony interior. I didn't think parchment would show dirt this bad.

here's the story: about a year before my graduation, i started looking for a car.

my choices after 10 months of shopping came to:
1. clk430
2. bmw 328ci
3. mb e430
4. 3.2tl
5. rx300
6. solara sle
7. accord cpe exv6
(new m3 wasn't availabe yet, and wasn't what i was looking for anyway...wanted something more luxo than sporty; and i'm not a big bmw fan, but considered the 328ci 'cuz there was pretty much nothing else like that until the cl-s came).

then i got a mailing from acura about the cl-s. i went over to l.v. to take a test drive, so this car got into my #2 position.

i went to the mb dealer (knopf mb) (i wanted the clk) who sold us 3 cars already. they told me that i had to order a clk430 and it would be 2 months before i got it. they had a 320 on the lot, so i asked if i could test that. the guy goes to tell me that i had to put a deposit down and this and that (he didn't think i was serious about buying a benz). so i took the clk off the list becuase i wanted the car that month and at least wanted to test drive what i was getting.

so i go back to l.v. and tell them i'm interested in a silver with spoiler. i ask about navi updates for the navi, and the dealer tells me i get 2 for free, so i decide to get the navi too. and they just got one in with those specs too.

i then find out that montgomeryville would sell me one for a little over $1k less than l.v., so i told l.v. this and they reluctantly agreed to match the deal (it was like the last week of april).

then i'm ready to buy, and i whip out a coupon for $100 off 'cuz i bought from l.v. honda before, so i give it to the dealer and he says i'll get a check in the mail.

1 month later, no check, so i call and the dealer tells me it'll be taken care of right away.

1 month after, no check, so i call again, and then he goes he'll talk to his manager and i'll get it in the mail soon.

1/2 month after, no check, i call again. dealer gives me to the sales maanger, sales manager tells me and i quote...see==>"We gave you a good deal, there's no way in hell we're giving you $100 back."

i should've been told that when i presented the coupon, not almost 3 months later. he say's he'll talk ot the dealer to see what went down and get back to me.

1/2 month later, still nothing, so i call, and the dealer says that the manager never spoke to him about anything, so i talk to the manager and he says, "oh, i thought we already cleared this up...we gave you a good deal so there's no way in hell you're getting a rebate."

i was going to buy some rubber mats and trunk tray and car cover and use the $100 as part of payment, oh well...clinton acura got my money for that stuff instead.

then i hear about the navi update on this board. i ask my dealer (the ass that told me i get 2 free) about getting one. "you have to buy that through navtech." i told him i explicitly asked about the updates and he explicitly told me i get 2 for free, which is why i decided to get the navi. he tells me he never told me such a thing and i'm lying to get free updates.

so i call acura and report this bullshit to them. i told them that i was 22 (at the time), paid cash for a $32k car, and i'll probalby be buying more expensive cars in the near future...and if i'm still sour from this, i won't even consider acura, no matter how great their cars are in the future..

i'm pretty sure age my age had something to do with my treatment, but it's still bullshit nonetheless. and i travel for work, so i'm out of the area 90% of the time so i don'thave time to deal with stuff like that.

and that's my story of why i regret buying an acura.

Yes, definitely. It is still the best compromise between luxury & performance for the money. And it is just not the purchase price, but insurance & in some states(i.e. WV) they hit you every year with personal property tax. It all adds up! I love my CL-S & I gets lots of compliments on it. I wish it drove more like a BMW, but I'm getting used to the steering.

How much did you pay in personal property tax on the car? We pay that as well in NC and I'd like to get an idea of what to expect.

The CL-S is a great car for the money. After the CAI and Denso plugs I'm getting some monster torque steer everytime I hit a bump going around a curve really fast... which scares the shit out of me and but at the same time puts a big grin on my face.

However, if I had known that I would have almost doubled my salary a couple months after I bought the car I would have gone in a different direction. When I bought my car I had just gotten into an accident and needed to replace the car fast. Had a loaner for about a month.
It was actually around this time of the year. I was coming back from a company function at the Houston Shell Open and stopped by a dealership cause my buddy said I had to take a look at the Type S. Test drove the thing and loved it. I was looking to get a M3, but finding the right one would takes a while and I didn't want to go over 32K. I paid cash for my car and didn't want to take a loan out. Too much time and hassle. Didn't want a 328 cause it cost more and had less power. Also couldn't wait for delivery. Well the rest is history. But now I'm looking to getting into a 99 M3 or possibly 540i. Too bad the depreciation is gonna kill me.

I just wished I saved up some money for another 2 months, and shopped around. I never even test drove any other cars in the class. I just went out and bought the Cl-s with navi. My family has always owned hondas, so I thought I would just carry on with tradition. I kind of wish I bought a used BMW with a navi. (if they have them) I like my car but I don't love it. If I wrecked my car and had to pick another one, it would it be a tough what to pick next. Acura/lexus/bmw/benz???

Hmm...Well, salesman at LV seemed fine. I called him when me heater went out (cable got unplugged). He didn't dork aroudn with me and say what us tech normally say...
I'd rather take mine to LV than Reading. Did Reading Acura win any awards?

It's a world-class luxury car with power and handling. Not in the same class as the CL-S, more like the RL. As for everyone having one.... not. You're thinking of the 3-series.

it's not the l.v. service that's bad, it was the dealers. i kinda liked the service there, but unfortunately i can't go back 'cuz of principle.

again, i think it had something to do with the age factor and that i paid cash for the car rather than financed.

I don't know if I agree with you about the whole age factor. I am your age and did not have any problems buying. I am very agressive when buying a car however. I dont mess around, I figure out how much I can push the envelope with price and then try to push it below that. If my price is not met, I simply walk away. The fact that you were paying cash should've been a very positive factor. Its the best situation for the dealer so you have all the haggling power. Cash on the spot, what could be better.

Dealers dont know shit and we'll pretty much tell you anything to get you to buy. Knowledgeable, honest dealers are few and far between. The fact that another dealership cut down l.v acura price down by $1k, should've been a concern for you. And all that $100 coupon BS must've been really frustrating. At least I think you got a good lesson as well. Sorry for a bit of a rant. Good luck.

well, i'm not saying the age factor is common, but i'm thinking it's what caused my specific dealer person to pull that b.s.

the only reason i think that montgomeryville was giving me about $1k off was it was the last week of the month and montgomeryville has a bigger inventory. but dealers nowadays make more money if you finance through them than if you pay cash.

i don't know and don't really care anymore. i went to clinton acura for a few things, and that's all they deal with, acuras, and they are a lot smaller and treated me 100% friendlier, so i'll drive an extra 45min (hey, driving the cl-s is fun, rmember?)h and maybe spend a little more to be treated like a valued customer (considering i didn't even buy my car from them).

When I bought mine, it was between the Acura, Accord EX V-6 and a Monte Carlo SS. Could not get a Monte Carlo the way I wanted it equipped. Seems that only one dealer, had the car in the state and would not dealer trade for it. The Accord is a nice car, but boring, so I ended up getting the CL. The best car I have ever owned and never had any regrets. I bought at a great dealer, who in my case was honest, straight forword and no pressure and the same can be said at the dealer I take it to for servicing. When I get another car it will more than likely another Acura.

I have no regrets of my purchase of this car. I owned a 98 3.0 CL before this car, and I will most likely own a CL till I die!

BTW, my brother went from the 325 to the 5 series and he thinks its too big a car. While it handles well, it is not as tight and nimble as the 3 series. It makes him feel old. Just HIS opinion.
