i got a speeding ticket

damn. i gotta speeding ticket yesterday. i drove 52 on 30mph zone. fortunately, that cop reduced the ticket to 40/30mph.

well, i have to pay $130.. and i was told that i'll get 2 points too...

if i go to court, do they reduce the fine? i've never went to court before, but i think i'll try this time.. will it help?

Definatley go to court. You'll see the cop there. Normally you can talk to him before the judge calls your case. Hopefully he'll reduce the ticket further. If the cop doesn't show you pay nothing and case dismissed. Take the chance and go to court.

Try offering to take a defensive driving course. I don't know much about this personally, but have heard it can eliminate the points. You can take the course online, which turns out to be about 3 hours in length. Cost is about $50

Aren't there negatives associated with this if the defense is found "guilty" of the ticket? Something like paying court fees?

in most states , if it is under 15 MPH over the speed limit you can get defensive driving... ask about that... either thqat or some states have deferred ajudication where you're on probation for 3 months and if you don't get a ticket in those 3 months they wipe it off your record.

I went to court twice and the cop never showed both times...guess I got lucky. Not sure how much the court fees are but iI'd rather take the chance rather than pleading guilty and having them take points off.
