Which headlight housing shall I go with?

What's crackin?

So here's whassup...I'm having headlights sent on over to Mr. to get cleared, and possibly blacked out. I have an '01 SSM CL-S so that should give you some kind of an idea. Now here are the options:

A) Cleared

B) Cleared & Black Housing (these are on a TL)

another look at it

Here's the problem....I want mine to look IDENTICAL to the 03's...as in, leaving the turn signal and reflector area chrome, like the following:

However, Mr. says that he can only do balck housing like the 2 in option B because if I wanted it like the 03's, he'd have to mask off the chrome area and that could strip the chrome surface away. Basically, if I want to get black housing, the turn signal and reflector areas would have to be black as well. So help me out fellas (and ladies )

`John

I was gonna say clear and black as well however you have a silver car.

Are there any pics of the clear/black look on a SSM CL?

Hey Soopa, how did you mask off the chrome without damaging it?

pics on the car:

for all the people who PM'd me on how to mask the reflectors...

simply buy the LOWEST tack painters tape you can find... scotch makes a type that is so low stick it wont even cling to your fingers. but its sticky enough that it will lightly attach itself to the chrome and create a seal... but is peelable without stripping the chrome. i've found this works best...

you can find these types at SOME hardware stores... some Home Depots carry it. otherwise go to a Art Supply store... they have it.

alternatively... and for the set of lights depicted here... I used electrical tape. that works too... but it is sticker then other low-tac masking tapes.

for the LOWER reflector area... simply take out the orange reflector... cover it with tape... then put it back into place. this will create an excellent mask and takes 10 seconds.

the upper area... first lay tape along the edges to define the line you want. then fill the area with soft toilet paper... then lay tape over that to secure it. this will make sure no paint gets into the reflector area and wont hurt the chrome.

ive used this method for over a dozen '01 CL lights... and i've used it on several other makes/models. it works.

I'm also debating on painting the whole chrome framing black including the turn signal reflector bowls. what do you guys/girls think about that on my car?

^This is PIMP though. Is that tint on the inside of headlight to black out the turn signals?
