Nashua,

Looking at the stock and Comptech's Headers, it appears that the outflow ports are slightly wider and the primary tubings are longer with minimal bottle necking compared to the stock. This may explain how they're able to get more HP in the upper range as shown by the Dyno.

Scalbert, any thoughts?

What's the weight difference between the two?

For those of you that have had the headers for a while, have you had to retighten them yet? Any leaks?

Fender4,

The heat shield will not be able to go back on as the primary pipes are bigger than the stock one.

If the difference is not THAT big, why doesn't acura just put better ones on in the first place? The price diff. can't be that much. I know I'd pay a few extra hundred to get a better stock header.

The weight difference was negligible. The cast manifolds weighed about the same as the header primaries.

As for power gains, I would guess that it is mostly in the header primaries. The stock cast manifolds are unequal length and collect quickly. This will definitely cause greater backpressure. The Comptech headers are equal length tubing, which allows the exhaust pulses to sequence, not hitting one another. Which is what helps flow and power.

Plus, the welding points and transitions on the A-Pipe were smoother than the stock piece. Probably 25% of the gain. But the header is the main source, IMO.

I checked them last weekend, one week of having them, while changing my oil. All was tight but I will check again after about a month.
