Got my Valentine 1!!!

Got it today (after ordering it on March 20th

It look ssooo much better in person then it does in pictures. (alot like the CLS)

I am glad i got it. I feared it was gonna be a clunky big black box.

I havent really used it yet... but I did hardwire it.

Thanks for your instructions Shawn! Their grrrrreat!

My only problem was that I accidentally touched the sticky tape (from the power splitter thing) on the felt that is in the fuse box. So I had to tape that thing down in there until I get some sticky velcro that i can replace that piece with.

Anyway... thanks again Shawn!

I'll be making a trip to the NY Auto Show tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up. Lemme know..

Soopa,..........you're really going to appreciate having the V-1, especially with all the small towns in upstate NY complete with locals looking for revenue. It does look better in person and it is smaller than the ad makes it look. Also the remote display looks so cool perched in front of the instrument cluster.

Well. Not many small towns round here... I live in the Capital district... Albany.

But there is Colonie (the largest single suburb in the United States) and the cops are bastards... its like constant End of the month quota for them.

So it will pay off there.

But yea... whenever I commute to NYC... Ive gotta pass through a lot of small ass hick towns... just like the one I payed $400 for the ticket I got coming back from the Fall Brooklyn meet.

Also... going into Mass is rough since the Mass St Police are terrors... I think they invented the word entrapment. Its the only place Ive ever been where cops will all hit the road 2 dozen at a time... pick a car to follow. And pull him over as soon as he slips up cuz hes so nervous of the cop on his ass.

Ya... definately.

Im always up for a trip to the Boston area. Its better then being in dirty ass NYC

The V1 should give me some good protection against the mass pike prowlers. But I try to obey the limit as much as possible on the pike anyway since Mass cops have a hard-on for Vascar!

If more cops would figure out how awesome (and easy) VASCAR really is, all of us radar detector-toking drivers would quickly become obsolete. There is absolutely nothing you can do against VASCAR short of "eluding" which is risky at best.

Enjoy your V1; it does kinda have a personality of it's own so I guess you can call it a person.

Soopa, you've got mail.

read what Mike Valentine has to say about radartest.com and "The V1 Hater":
http://www.valentine1.com/lab/V1Hater.asp

VASCAR = Airborne police. They take your speed by determining how long it takes you to get from one marking in the road to another.

That's what VA is leaning more towards now. WTF!! no radar detectors allowed and now VASCAR. they just after us.

but w/ vascar you can see the lines so all you have to do is slow down like crazy when you see the VASCAR markers.

Unfortunately VASCAR can be used with any point of reference. That means light posts, overpasses, parked cars, road signs, anything fixed. VASCAR can be used with both cars moving but is most often w/stationary cop car, hidden out of sight.

If your freeway is new or recent (like most of ours), those lines are all the way up and down the entire length of the freeway. Can't drive slow the whole way....

Read it and weep http://www.vascarplus.com/

VASCAR down side:

One of the down side of VASCAR timimg is that all depends on the officer and how accurate he is in flpping on or off the switches at the exact time when the traget passes a given point. I doubt an officer can time correctly a car passing 1/4 mile away... A Car driving at 65 MPH can tavel some 100 ft a sec. so if the officer has a reactoin time of 0.7-1 sec and he errored at least at the far end of the timing points then he could error by some 6% to 15% verestimating the average speed. So car driving 65 MPH can be "clocked" by VASCAR at 75MPH.

hey soopa, just wondering, how are you hiding the power lines from the fuse box to your v1 on the windshield? are they visible? how are you securing the wires? want to get a radar detector myself but don't want to see the ugly wires.

Wrong. VASCAR has been used in police aircraft succesfully and accurately for many, many years. Have you ever tried to beat/challenge the aircraft? When it is used in police cars, it is even more deadly.

My first police car VASCAR ticket in Hudson, Wisconsin and my second aircraft VASCAR ticket again in Wisconsin convinced me to plea bargain (and pay). I used to do that "go and talk to a lawyer" thing but that's silly unless you're in big, big trouble.

I understand the propensity for inaccuracy and the average speed problem and the officer's reaction and timing issues but that's all on paper. Just like radar's cosine errors and shadowing and dozen of other possible errors. In the real world, in real life, VASCAR is getting judicial notice which mean damn all that trivial argument stuff. You can't fight the technology. In any case, VASCAR is more accurate that any radar can ever possibly be.

Do some more reading here: http://www.radartest.com/index.html?...TPVR.html~body

Air Born VASCAR could be more accurate then those on the ground. From Sky high, it would be easier to time a car passing markers. Hoever looking to a car coming into you line of sight is much harder to judge the exact time it passes a marker. Potention human error is much higher than say a laser gun.

You can read Shawns instructions and see his pics here: http://www.acura-cl.com/garage/v1_install.html

To hide the wires on top of the windshield I just ran them along the headliner... there is a space between the windshield and headliner about the size of the wire... no securing neccesary.

And then I ran them behind the A-pillar into the fuse box per Shawns instructions.

Soopa,

I'm glad my instructions worked out for you.
Remember now, you’re not INVINCIBLE.

You have a great advantage over most everyone else on the road, but not a “get out of jail free” pass.

Drive SMART !!!!

Shawn S

PS…..Now you’ve got NO excuse for not getting your ASS down to the next NJ MEET.

I thought V1 was working on a new design, is it out yet?

How do they compare to the latest passport series (I forget the number)?
