Extra Oil Pan

Short question guys

Thee is someone selling a Oil pan for the CL on craigslist in my local area for $50obo. It has a helicoiled oil drain bolt, but apparently is just fine. The helicoil is why its fine without it yeah ...

Im pretty slammed now that I'm on coilovers should I maybe pick this thing up for $40 just in case ? A new oil pan is upwards of $100
i believe...

Thanks guys !

What exactly are you asking? If youre low enough (i am too )to punish your pan, you IMO should probably get a skid plate made instead of going through pans lol

Buy the pan. Go to Oreilly auto parts but a drain plug repair kit. It includes a large drill bit, tap and an oversized drain plug with crush gasket for $10-15. Good as new. Used the kit on my 07 MDX and saved me $12x!

As for a custom skid, no thinner than 5/16" or you're wasting your time and money.

Or just be careful and always remain conscious.

If you hit something thats going to damage your oil pan, youre going to have to replace quite a few more parts as well.

I played this game. Buying parts for what if's because I saw a good price. Never had to use them. I'd say save your $ & put it into a bank account & add to it then you'll have $ if something happens.

If I showed you the bottom of my pan, you'd be surprised it's still in tact

I've basically told myself if something happens to the cl I am gonna ditch it. I feel like I have to avoid 20 accidents in it a day as is.

I believe a couple of people. I cant remember who it was but they had a lip kit on a silver cl and the car was very low . basically the rock tore the pan from front to back, without scratching the lip .

That was Noah. He didnt hit a rock, he hit a "jump" at 60mph. That cracked the pan in four places and caused engine damage.

In his case, having the oil pan on hand would've saved him some money, but he's still on the hook for a new engine.

I dont need one really, it drips a couple times a day thats it .
today had the car jacked up for an oil change. Both (idk what they are called, but scrape plates ?? the black thing on both sides one side being by the oil pan ?) are dented slightly and scraped. The oil pan has rash on it back its not dented .

My subframe is dented too. I have no idea what dented it since I have never bottomed out my car. It wasn't like that when I bought the car

Jack car up. Remove J pipe. Drain oil pan. Remove oil pan. Clean mating surfaces. Spread a layer of Hondabond/sealant on the new pan. Install pan. Torque down per shop manual specs. Reinstall J pipe. Fill oil. Start car and check for leaks.

The j pipe is what ? I think the car is straight pipe to the headers

The J pipe is the lower half of the headers.
