engine stalled, what could it be?
i'm in traffic this morning and as soon as i slow down to a stop the idle drops and the engine cuts off. no check engine or any lights come on. what's going on? it happened twice. a couple of times i've noticed that when i start the engine it doesn't catch right away. its not a smooth start up. could it be the timing, spark plugs, fuel injector, what?

I hate stuff like that. About 6 months ago during the work week I went out to lunch by myself. When I finish and go to head back to work my CLS would not start. It would turn over and turn over, but no fire/spark. After about 8 to 10 attempts I pulled the key out of the ignition and waited a minute or two. Put the key back in and it fired right up as usual. Since that happened I have not seen this phenomenon reappear! Strange!

This happens to me sometimes. I told the dealer about it and of course they cannot reproduce it. There is a TSB about the fuel pressure regulator. I asked them about that and they said it was not for the problem I was describing. So now I just have to deal with it.

At the base of the throttle body. You could pull it off and spray carb cleaner into the passeges and then re-install it. This might help with little to no expense.

You are out of warranty, have problem, so order for yourself a HELMS service manual.
Okay!

idling problem
Been a member for a while, but never posted anything till now. Thought this would be extremely helpful to those CL owners that ever had their car stall on them at a stop OR ever had a problem where the idle surges between 1000-2500rpm at a stop. Here's the problem: a defective binding air control valve on the throttle body. The entire throttle body was replaced (P/N 16400-PGE-A11). It was the cause of the above problems on my '03 6-spd when it had ~4000 miles on it. Dealer couldn't find the problem b/c the C/E (Check Engine) light didn't light at that time. Problem never came back till 7000 miles later. This time the C/E light came on. Fixed under warranty. Problem never came back.

I had this problem too where my car stalls when it slows down and comes to a stop. It happened to me about 8 times although the dealership could not reproduce it. It drove me nuts...
Anyhow, as luck would have it, they cleaned out a filter of some sort for my fuel injection (I THINK) and everything's been fine ever since. I hope it all works out for ya! Good luck.
