DISCONNECT BATTERY AFTER CAI INSTALLED??

HEY GUYS, I DONT WANT TO SOUND STUPID BUT AM I SUPPOSE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AFTER I INSTALL MY CAI? LET ME KNOW.

ALSO IF I HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, DO I TURN THE CAR ON AND THEN DISCONNECT IT?

You don't have to. But you can if you want to.

1. Just make sure you have your Radio code available *and* save a list of your favorite stations on a sheet of paper -- they will be gone (along with other settings).

2. If you have a Navi and disconnect for more than 20-30 minutes, have the Navi code ready *and* you will loose any non-personal settings in the NAVI. So, if you have any "special" places you like to go, make them permanent.

So, will it help -- probably. If you don't mind waiting, the consensus is that the ECU will figure it all out within 100 miles.

I agree with EricL. The ECU is a dynamic entity. During my days with my 4 banger Lude Si, I had this discussion with the Prelude owner forum and the consensus was that the ECU will "reset" itself every 2 weeks. So you don't have to reset the ECU now. Give it time and it will learn for you.

The other option of course is to yank out the ECU fuse, wait for 30 minutes and put it back in. That will reset the ECU without you loosing any Nav settings, or stereo presets.
