I would leave them in. Why would Acura put them in if the car didn't need them for some reason. Mine were left on with stock & innovative.

They are useless in the oem application and completely negated with a mount firm enough to reduce or eleminate wheel hop. If they did what Acura wanted them to do, we would not be having this conversation. It really doesnt matter either way though. Your call.

Fuzzy, you know that argument is like swiss cheese. We all know Acura has done a lot of things they could have and probably should have done differently.

well all the mounts are installed. everything went pretty smoothly except for the rear. it needed a little twist to get the bolts all started. all i have left is to tighten up the front mount bracket. one of the bolts has to be tightened from underneath but i'm DONE for today. so tomorrow tighten, then road test.

J/K! Seriously though, you are killing me. I am dying to know how this worked out for you. Since I looked at my front innovative mount and noticed it is completely collapsed I am in dire need of an alternative. GET IT DONE SON!!!! Look luck. Cant wait for the results.

road test: no weird vibrations in neutral at idle. there is a small increase compared to stock, or from what i remember stock being. a very very very slight increase in vibrations in neutral with AC on. before with my innovative mount when the AC was turned out the vibrations more than doubled and increased in sound. in first gear barely rolling (parking lot style) no increases. it is misting outside so i did some punches from 5mph and up. the wheel hop still happens in first but it was that way with the innovative. from what i can tell the amount of hop did not increase. it's hard to say without a way to measure but i know for a fact it is way better than stock.

basically these provide what we wanted the innovative mounts to do. less wheel hop, more traction and daily tolerant vibrations. now to just drive and see how they age!

side notes: i do not have front or rear engine dampers installed. also i noticed that the IM rear mount is very squishy as compared to my IM side mount poly. does IM not have a consistency for their mounts? my home brewed 60a poly is much stiffer when poked as compared to the IM poly. i believe my mounts are stiffer but for some reason cause less vibrations.

They cause less vibration because they are aligned like they are supposed to be, something innovative didnt give a shit about doing.

you will need 2 cans for all mounts but you might be able to squeeze just one. instead of measuring it out 10:1 (don't quote me) i just mixed the entire amount and had some leftovers. i figured it was better to have extra then to have a "cold joint" within the mount.

i wanted to measure the height of the stock and IM pins but forgot to. i figured the vibrations had to have been created just from the dimension errors. it was a sign when those damn things had to be forced in.

little DIY:
on the front and rear mount i did not cut out any rubber. i thought i took a pic of the side but i am unable to locate it. basically on the side i cut the rubber bubble at the top out and drained the mount. the bottom piece appears to be solid but is not. the only solid part is 2 small rubber bars at approximately 8:00 and 4:00. from 4-8 is just a thin layer that can be cut out. the 2 bars will hold the center pin in place. just rinse it out very well and then fill.
for the front i removed the top cover and top plate. just sand the rubber to roughen it with the dremel. i put the top plate back on and tightened the nut down. Then you can wrap the mount in duct tape except for a small pour hole. this poly fills the front and forms a pancake.
on the rear mount i just sanded, taped up one side and then filled the mount.

They cause less vibrations because they are not made entirely of polyurethane. At any rate, still a nice job. You are pretty damn handy.

everything seems to be holding up, no visible "doughing". i still have not installed the stock or NRG dampers yet. when i installed the mount one of the NRG dampers was pulled apart. those things always seemed like junk as i could never get them to depress. and yes this is all after only like 25 miles total, yep weekends.

i need someone else that is fed up with their innovative mounts to do the custom poly. we need to get a daily driver so that some miles can be logged in. or we can wait for my 50 mile weekends to add up. it would help if the innovative mounts were still in the car as it takes about one week for the poly to fully cure before they are installed.

I wanna do this but I currently have my OEM mounts in there.

I'm pretty sure my front mount is toast. I'll probably buy all new mounts and poly-fill them. How long would it take someone who has never done the mounts in this car to swap them?

How long does it take to cure? I have not gotten a chance to put stock front mount back in the car so I would be game.

it will cure to the touch in 24 but i remember the instructions saying like 5 days for full cure. we need the full potential strength of the poly so you will want to let it cure the full time.

as for the installation of the front and side mounts it can be done in around 1-1.5 hours. the rear is the bitch. i would say around 2-3 hours.

I have my side and front mount sitting in a box in my garage. I will get with you on Saturday and see what it ill take to do this. Call me and we can meet up on Saturday. I drive about 200 miles a week.

I think i'm going to do this. I'm guessing it doesn't really matter if you use a used mount, as long as it isn't ripped....Now did you hook the vaccum back up for the front and Rear?

the front yes because i did not rip into the mount. i just filled the air gap with the poly. i have a 6spd so my rear is different, no vacuum. for you folks that are auto treat it just like the front mount.

I haven’t been on in a while and saw this thread update just now in my email. Ironically, I left the Acura dealership one hour ago with two blown front mounts and one blown side mount for this very purpose. They were going to throw them away so I grabbed them. I was there having the wife’s RDX serviced. I have one blown and good (new) side mount as well as one extra good (new) front mount. So I have 3 front mounts and 3 side mounts. The car currently has the IM front and side installed with the stock 6MT rear mount. I will dissect one of the front mounts and decide what is the best method to fill for taking a pounding. I will tear the diaphragm to see about filling the whole front mount. I’m probably going to order the poly fill tonight. I will take pics and post when I'm done. It may be a few days as I am very busy. I have another auto 02 TL I own with a blown front and side mount also so I will probably see about the mounts for it also. Jim

btw my front rear and sides were all filled with window weld for a long time with many many many track and hard street launches... my front accord v6 mt is my first cls mount filled also
