Comptech Icebox ETA.

here's the email response i got from comptech:

"We are waiting for one last plastic component to come in and are hoping to see it before Friday. From there, we just do the final trimming and start getting them into boxes and out the door. If things go smoothly, I hope to be shipping the first ones by June 14. "

Hey, have you checked out the WR Ice Box? The price is more than comptech but this one looks awesome.

And yes, they have the dynos for the CLS, I don't know if it'll fit a regular CL though. Of course the first generation CL gets blown off again. I don't see it even in production.

oh yeah as for Mike's promises, well they promised that they would have the V6 Accord Icebox ready to rollout back in December and it's June and still no icebox.

I just want someone to try it out and see what they think.

Link for WR Ice Box w/dyno

Hmm... 9.6HP and 6.2TQ for the WR Icebox. Not too shabby for $175... I wonder what the CT numbers would look like. I don't imagine a whole lot of difference in performance, so it might just boil down to a price issue.

Wonder how much additional hp/tq you'd get from an intake + icebox.

what exactly is this icebox? sounds like it obviously cools the air intake, but if i had AEM CAI, could i still use this, or do you only have one or the other?

I'm sure you could just cut the pipe but who knows.

I dont think its that cheep. I believe its more like 340...the 175 is just for the box and not the short ram intake as well.

The WR thing is a short ram that has a box over it...from that box a pipe goes down to behind the road lamp area. The filter is still up in the engin area but the air it pulls is from down below and still cooler. You also dont have that much of a hydrolock concern. I believe the CT IB is the same idea.

Yep, you're right... I was still half asleep when I posted.
It's 175 for the box only, and 340 for box + intake.

why would you want to toss your AEM, on the accord board they say the only advantage is no concern for hydrolocking and its not as loud.........shit thats one of the reasons why i wanted a CAI, becaue of the sound. You can buy a bypass valve to keep the water out...........and they all say that there prob. wont be any power difference.

I don't liek the byass valve. i have it on my car, but it gets u thinking.. those flpas aren't all that stiff. They have to be flexible enough to open up for water to shoot out. BUT at the same time, i don't think they are stiff enough to keep air from pushing them open. This is why i think any CAI with the AEM bypass actually robs the engine of air as it may be slipping out of the bypass valve....

Anyhow, I like the look of the Icebox too.

Actually, the bypass valve isn't for water to shoot out. If any significant quantity of water went up that high that it was hitting your bypass valve, you're screwed already. The bypass valve opens INWARDS (not outwards) and is meant to let air in when the primary intake is immersed.

Just think of your intake as a straw. Normally, you suck air thru the straw. If your straw is dipped in water, it sucks the water. That's not good for an intake. So for the straw, we cut a little hole in the straw so that when it is dipped in water, we end up suck air through the newly cut hole, and no water goes up the straw.

I agree with you though that the icebox looks very cool. Then again, there's something to be said about having a nice shiny bright red/silver/chrome piece of piping.
