CLS looking for a new clutch...need advice!

wassup guys,
I'm new to the forum, I purchased a 03 CLS 6speed about 2 months ago. Can't handle the clutch for much longer...it slips and the car transfers weight in between shifts...everyone thinks I don't know how to drive!
So i'm looking for a new clutch....was looking into the clutch masters fx100 but the lowest I could find it for was $$1100 and thats probly out of my price range. Was considering getting the OEM replacement for 300 and just having the flywheel resurfaced. Also looked into SPEC but those are around 600 without the flywheel so I might as well go with the clutch masters at that point. Anyone know of a decent clutch for a good price? Not looking for anything too crazy. I guess the thing thats pissing me off is a clutchmasters fx100 for a RSX-S is only 399 whereas for a CLS its 1100!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

not sure what your mods are, but with the standard bolt on your best bet is oem. we have ppl on here with well over 100K miles on the original clutch.

pspec is the oem one painted over it, so stay away!!!

Just get a OEM stock replacement. No need to spend $ on anything better. The stock clutch handles the power of bolt ons fine. Buy a new flywheel. The flywheel is dual mass & takes a VERY good shop to be able to resurface it. Resurfacing is not recommended.

Thanks for the advice. My car currently has 160k on it...i don't know if its the original clutch or not. Car is pretty stock besides p2r TB spacer and shitty ebay intake which makes this obscene humming noise at idle.

By transfer weight I mean that the car rocks foreword in between shifts. Most noticeable when im shifting from 1st to 2nd. I think its because the clutch catches so high. Hopefully a new clutch and JTC short shifter will solve that....as soon as they get more in stock!

Motor mounts will solve that problem not short shifter sirrrr & oem can handle a lot of pwr even S/C or turbo or try clutch master clutch & flywheel

I'd go with the stock clutch. I just bought the whole clutch with pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing from an acura dealership on ebay for $325 shipped. If you want a new stock flywheel, they sell them on ebay for 225. That's $550 for brand new stock parts guaranteed for 100k+ of usage. Invariably the aftermarket setups will have issues.

agreed...my car had about 160k on the original clutch and it finally gave out...replaced with an OEM Honda/Acura part...actually it seems it was even manufactured by LUK..so either OEM or LUK.

I recall the pressure plate had LUK stamped on it when I removed it from the HONDA packaging...wish I would've gone with the LUK since it was cheaper and its the same damn part!
