CLP w/ CLS gauges TCS/VSA Problem
I had posted another thread asking for help figuring out whether I bought a CLP or a CLS a year ago. I believe it is a CLP.
However I have the white CLS gauges. These gauges have the VSA warning light. On my dash, under the Cruise Control button, I have a TCS button. Nothing happens when I push this button.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you have a tcs button you have a cl-p before you bought it they probably swapped the cluster for a type s or did. The reason you don't see any lights popping up when you press the button is because the type s don't have tcs they have vsa. If the vsa light says on pull the bulb if there is no vsa light then the bulb has already been pulled. The tcs button still works even if it doesn't light up, when you press it it disengages tcs. It will automatically reset to on everytime you shut off the car

It's because there was no tcs on the type s cluster. I have a type s cluster in my car as well, when I press the tcs button no lights come on or anything but it does disengage the tcs

The TCS still works in your car but the vsa/tcs lights are in different locations on the cluster. When you press the button you are still deactivating the TCS but the light on the dash wont light up to tell you its off.

easiest way to determine if you have a CLS 3 is to use this link to decode your vin http://www.decodethis.com/VIN-Decoded/
Other ways to tell
1. Preforated leather seats
2. Leather shift knob with a red S in it
3. Egine cover has red lettering for type S motor
4. You can push the tach up to 7200 before fuel cut
5. Car has road lamps in front bumper
6. Car has 215 50 R17 instead of 205 60 R16 tires
Not nessescarily, all the original person had to do was record the milage at which the odometer was replaced and make the seller aware. Most states let you indicate this on the title at time of transfer/sale
IE I replaced the cluster at 40K with one that had 35K on it and now the car has 85K real miles on it although the cluster shows 80K miles

Mileage is stored in the cluster, swap the cluster and the car has a different mileage listed. The car can go from 200k to 100k easily and if the car is taken care of it can be hard to distinguish.

In theory you could, but it's illegal and unethical If you ever sell the car. Not to mention your Carfax will throw a red flag next time you get any kind of work done and they report it.
If you do get the 0 mile cluster, you need to report it and dealer will place a sticker stating this.
