CL-TypeS vs. 97+ GTP
OK, first off....How are you all doing? I didn't come here to be a troll and cause trouble. I came here because I totally LOVE your guys choice of cars and I had a unique experience with one. The Type-S rocks!! It's a blast to drive, of course you all know this already.
Ive got a 97 GTP that I love alot and it is pretty damn quick, but Id trade it in in a second if I could afford a Type-S. So I guess Im stuck having to continue to wipe up the roads with the Type-S (I gotta start a little shit).
Anyway, here's my story:
(cut and pasted from my post on the GTP board)
I was out spending the day with my old man looking for his retirement vehicle and the first stop was the Acura dealer for him to look at the MDX. While he was doing the number crunching with the sales guy I spied a CL Type-S on the showroom floor and asked if he had one I could drive. Not a problem, and after a quick photocopy of my DL I was on my way. The roads were dry as a bone and I was ripping on this car, and man oh man does it rip! It has a cool-as-shit auto-stick that a couple times I forgot to shift and had it bouncing of the rev-limiter. Anyway, unbelievably, I was at a light and what do I see approaching from the rear, a GTP. I knew the light was going to change before she (turned out to be a little cutie) stopped, so I improvised. The light changed when she was still 20-30 feet behind me and she rolled past kinda quickly, I QUICKLY caught up to her and she took notice. She jumped it, I jumped it a hair later and we went from 40 to about 65 (due to traffic concerns). She pulled a little and I pulled back even before we had to let up. There is no doubt in my mind I would have kept pulling, although slowly. I gave my new GTP-friend a big smile and a thumbs-up which she enthusiastically returned. Not the most ideal race, but it showed me something. The Type-S would be quite a match for a stock GTP. I think the GTP would get it off the line but the Type-S would make it up by the end.
Well thats my story and Im sticking to it!
Later,

97 GTP Sedan, a pulley and CAI got me a 14.36@95.60.......not bad for $200 in mods!

Welcome to the board - Great story!!
With 280lb-ft of torque, I've no doubt that, stock for stock, the GTP should take a CL-S off the line. I'm actually surprised you didn't get your butt handed to you cuz starting at 40mph, you'd be grabbin' 2nd gear low in the rpm range on a CL-S. Not exactly where you want to start a race in this car! Especially against a GTP!
I've yet to run against a GTP. I'm always looking for them though because these two cars are very evenly matched!

Hey GTPguy! How you doing! Great to see you over here as well. (don't worry guys, I'll vouch for him that he's a good guy, no trolling from him!) Like I mentioned on the GP Board, nice job.

i took a GTP at the street races. He had exhaust and an upgraded pulley. I beat him by about a car w/ no traction through first.
