2001 CL-Type S (w/Navi)- Bose Radio Question?
2001 CL-Type S (w/Navi)- Bose Radio Question?
I have recently upgraded the audio system in my 2001 CL-Type S (with Navigation), that is everything EXCEPT the factory radio. Upgraded with 5-channel Memphis Belle Amp (75X4 and 300X1), MB Quart PSD216 (front), MB Quart DTC169 (rear), Kenwood Exceleron 12" sub. I wish to keep the factory radio (due to appearence with Black Wood kit, convenience of steering volume controls and don't want to lose the Navi voice prompts as I am told would be gone if I get a new head unit).
My technical installer tells me that the issue with these Acura factory radios is that it has some sort of "auto loudness" control which is designed to protect the factory speakers at loud volumes, so it brings down the bass response (since I believe the speakers do not have any crossovers), but it takes away from the sound quality. He believes there must be a way to disable this circuit in the radio to improve the sound and the bass punch. He is looking to take care of this for me, but the burden is on me to get him the exact information from the manufacturer of the radio on how to do this. Has anyone done this before or would have helpful information? Thanks!

Hey man, welcome to the board.
You may want to post this in the A/V Electronics forum, as there is a wealth of info on the stock (Alpine) system in there, I'm sure one of the Mods will move it for you.
I personally have not heard of this, but would be interested in the solution, if there is one out there. Good luck:thumbs:
