I did mine with one of these:
eBay backup camera , Vsokolov's video converter and a relay attached to my reverse light-- works like a charm.

I mounted the camera right above the rear license plate frame-- its almost impossible to see, unless you know what you're looking for. Everytime I have someone new in the car, and I throw it in reverse, I get major Wows.

Post pics, a video, a DIY instruction, something...or be

J/K but seriously, if you can post pics or a small video clip, I'm sure people are very interested to see how you set it up. I know I am.

more details...

LOL enough whining-- it IS really a simple job-- but i am an electrical engineer... In any event, if you have specific questions, I'll try my best to answer them

Here's a block diagram of what you need to do to just setup the reverse camera--

The way mine is setup is significantly more involved because i also have a DVD player installed, so there are additional relays and switches for selecting different sources (because vsokolov's converter only has one input)

I'll see if I can take some pictures of where I mounted the camera and how the image looks on my navi screen tomorrow.

pictures

Here is a photo of the backup camera from ground level-- the camera is right on top of the rear license plate frame.

Here is a view from standing a few feet from the car (notice, you can't see the camera at all)

Here is how the camera looks in low light conditions (my underground garage)

Here is how the camera looks in outside conditions, with a car about 5 feet behind me. --The black border at the top of the screen is from the camera not being pointed exactly correctly in my license plate mount... I had to balance the field of view of the camera with how much i wanted the camera to be visible...

Here is an additional swich I installed in the blank next to my dimmer switch-- I use this switch, to manually move between Navi/DVD/backup-- next to it is the IR receiver for my DVD (I should come up with a better way to mount that...)
The backup still switches on automatically when i go into reverse--

Here is where I mounted my DIN sized dvd player in the rear console (damn Acura for making the rear console exactly 0.5" too narrow to accomodate a DIN sized accessory... ) I had to cut out around the sides to make it fit, but I think its a excellent place to put it. and there is space to stack a few dvd's on top, and still have the lid close.

You can manually adjust where the camera is pointing by adjusting the frame.

Can you post up the diagram of your relay connection? Are you using a regular 4-pin relay (81, 85, etc. [I think])?

I would love doing this without messing with a switch using vsokolov's unit.

I'm not sure what you mean-- if you want to have the video display on the navi screen automatically, you're going to have to use vsokolov's unit (or some other RGB converter), and you're going to have to remove his switch and replace it with a relay--

As far as what relay to use-- any 12V SPST relay will work (i believe it needs to be n/o (normally open) but you should check the continuity of vsokolov's unit)

The switch part of the relay connects the two leads on vsokolov's unit where the switch was, and the magnetic actuation part of the relay connects between ground and the +side of the reverse light.

Installing vsokolov's unit-- 2hours
(I have the old version that you needed to cut wires to install..)
Need: soldering setup, strippers, shrink wrap tubing, zip ties, wire taps

Installing camera-- 2 hours
(including running wires, tapping into power)
Need: zip ties, wire taps.

Wiring up relay-- 1 hour
Need: wire taps, connectors, crimper, zip ties

Additionally, you'll need to make a camera mount-- that took me a few hours with a sheet of aluminum and some shears...

All and all, an easy afternoon project if you have everything ready to go.
