Awesome

My god, this is the best investment! I bought it to DRY THE CAR when I'm done with my car washes. AWESOME. Blows the friggin' water clear off and it doesn't harm the paint one bit! YEA! $60 at home drying machine...shit, this is the best tool to dry your car and it does absolutely NO DAMAGE to your car when drying her!

Give up your lame chamois and cotton rags that just scratch! I picked this one cause it's the best model and it is very light weight and the noise is acceptable unlike the gas powered versions. The power is very very good for blowing...a little lame on the vaccum side...but the blower can push out 210mph! ahha YEA! Legit!

U could also just use a compressor w/ air gun . That's just basically a leaf-blower . If u have one then use that . WORKS GREAT!!!

That's a cool way of drying off the ride. But I'd prefer to do it the ol' fasioned way - with a chamois (sp?). That way I can see any areas that need some waxing attention.

Chamois is not the best for your paint, it can hold dirt and scratch easily. Pro detailers don't use it. just use soft cotton cloth.

it was mentioned before that what if you pick up any dust, its basically blowing the dust, dirt, whatever at a high speed at your car....

Shawn S spoke about this briefy, but the lucky bastard does all the washing in a closed garage so that elimantes that factor.

I've been thinking about getting it until I heard an agrument about dirt or whatever flying...let me know if this isnt a factor.

thanks

Bunk...

Many of us have been doing this for quite awhile. No problem with dust/dirt whatsoever...

The gas ones are bad because the gas and oil might get onto your car.

I too, believe as Shawn does that this method works. You can't possibly due any worse with this than wiping with a terry towel and according to carguy over at www.autopia.org, if you can minimize wiping, you can minimizing swirls and hazing.

okay...i stopped by home depot and got me one of those toro blowers. let me tell you, that thing ROCKS!!!! took me about 5 minutes to dry my car. i usually use towels and takes me about 15-20 minutes and a lot of energy. but man, this things saves you a lot of energy and time. 215 mph of air sure beats 100mph. my brother had one that goes 115mph but i felt wasn't strong enough. plugged in the toro, and water just blew away. after that, did some 2 coats of zaino.

unfortunately, you'd have water spots galore on the rear glass and trunk. I've done it.

But I may get an air compressor to dry, clean engine bay, fill tires w/ air, or even power tools, zooot zooot!

That damn TORO is freakin' powerful for an electric motor! I pointed it at my aunt's little girl (3 y/o) and I blew it at her chest..haha she freakin' got pushed down to the floor! It was insane!

I have to say this thing is great..for leaves, vaccuming, and for drying. You just have to position the nozzle in order to push off the water..but when it starts blowing, MAN, it's way way better than drying..

THE BEST TIP: Dry off the excess water on car with CALIFORNIA BLADE...quick dry with that then use the toro to finish the job..or you can just use the TORO and save some energy. It takes a few minutes to get water off...pretty sweet..for $60!!

I thought it was a gimmick (cause of electric motor)..but this damn thing is as good as the gas powered ones! Oh yea...if you guys really want to use it primarily as a dryer, just gut off the end of the shaped nozzle..to get a circular end, it'll get you more air out.

Leaf blower KICKS ASS for drying the car.
I’m glad to see that more people here are beginning to understand this.

I don’t understand how some of you are saying you dry the car in “5 minutes” or less.
Maybe I’m just showing more of my “anal side”, but it still takes me about 20 minutes to do mine with the blower.
I’m really careful to get every last drop off the car. My wheels alone take about 2 minutes each.

Suggestion, DON’T use the vacuum attachment if you’re going to be dying the car with the same unit.

I don’t think small particle of dirt from the AIR will hurt the paint, but if something gets lodged in there from the vacuum mode it’s gonna come flying out of there when you reverse the flow.

An Air Compressor is good for HIGH PRESSURE applications like filling tires and running spray guns but it can’t put out the same CFM or pure VOLUME of air that a blower can.
Even one of the larger units will run out of air after a few minutes with the sprayer wide open.

I have a 15-gallon Craftsman and it starts to loose its “oomph” after the hand sprayer is used at 80-PSI for a while.
I use it this way when I blow the floor clean in the garage once a week.

I tried that a few times, and it didn't work for me. Kept getting streaks from window and mirror trim.. YMMV

i may have been mistaken shawn. i may have exxagerated a little bit but ididn't have a watch on so couldn't really tell. i just noticed a significant difference in time drying the car using the blower compared to towels and much less effort too. it may have taken me 7 minutes.

I wonder if the company responsible for making toro blowers are listed on the market.

I see a jump in price/share soon ...

PS. I am going to get one of these blowers. Right now, i am using CA water blade and cotton towels (brand new, every time.). But this still scratches in some areas. This blower idea sounds good!

That is friggin hilarious! More importantly, is she okay?

That's a powerful SOB to push a little girl (~40-50 lbs) down.... gonna get me one too! FOR THE CAR, of course.
