6MT sueprcharger belt problem! HELP

Well the thread says it. I have had the blower running for two days and at above 5000RPM the blower belt tries to hop off the blower pulley towards the engine/blower. I got a new belt and installed it. I got a new pulley tensioner for the engine and for the supercharger kit and installed both of them. With the hood up I can have someone rev the motor to 5000 and it tries to jump as it gets higher n the RPM. Anything below and it stays put. Is it possible my blower is not aligned properly? Has anyone else had this happen before? I'm sweating this. Is it possible I didn't set teh adjuster bolt on the blower bracket far enough in? Has anyone ever seen this before? Thanks, Jim

I haven't had any problems with mine. Do you have the belt tension set properly? Here's the method I use:

Please note: this was for a TL/CL sc kit.

Thanks man. I just took a close look at it and the pulleys are not lined up correctly. I am going to adjust the bracket adjuster bolt and see what happens. Jim

You gotta use the goodyear gatorback belt, don't use any napa buh sheed. I couldn't keep a belt on until I used the gatorback.

I use the torque wrench to tension mine, per the Comptech instructions. I've had the same belt on for 7,000 miles now.

Here's something I came across on the TL board:

Peeps having problems I recommend checking this & make sure the blower is mounted/ aligned perfectly with the p/s pulley & make sure those mounting bolts are tight!

you need a spacer to align the blower pulley and the PS pulley. tight the bolts up and get 24.5 size s/c belt...

also, make sure the sc's tensioner is not loose and wiggling during idle or wot. that makes the belt jump.

edit: you might need a spacer to align the pullies

The spacer may or may not help you. When I had the SC the belt never jumped, I had no spacer and the gatorback belt. Although this was on the 3.0V6.

Guys,
Thanks for the input. I removed the blower and the EGRV. I then adjusted the adjuster bolt on the cam plate bracket until the alternator pulley and the blower pulleys lined up. It took a couple of tries, adjusting the bracket then putting in the blower, adjusting again and then finally it was perfect. Everything is gravy now. The whole procedure took 1 hr. 17 min.. Nothing but sweet music now. Damn, the blower is so bad ass. As soon as I get the wideband O2 and the fuel pressure gauge in I will put on the HBP. Thanks again for all the help guys. Jim

was that the aluminum bolt? if so yeah, that's really important to have it there. people think it has nothing to do with the blower but it serve to "stop" the sc to move side to side and hold the sc in optimal position, good job and let's see some pictures

would a spacer have solvede the problem as well? or was the alignment issue not about depth but rather twisting the belt?

I'm having a belt problem too:

It was the aluminum adjuster bolt on the braket that mounts the blower to the cam plate. I had to adjust the vertical position of the blower. it took a few tries but it worked perfectly. I only know of a spacer for the alternator pully. None for the blower pully. My belt was gettin sheered because the pulleys were not on the same plane like if you laced them both face down on a flat table. They would line up perfectly. but if you put a 1/4" book under one of them they would not be on the same plane and out of allignment. I hope that makes sense.

yes, thats what mine is doing, if you put a 1/4 inch book under the SC pulley, it will move it out of the same plane, making the belt shift straightness. I visually thought a spacer would bring it on the same level, but if there is an adjustment, then that would work too. Right? I managed to get my alternator belt on and the car is running without being drained. so now off to my boy's place to get the spare belt and alignment done, I can't wait for boost again, stock feels so slow, lol.
