2004 Viper WTF
2004 Viper WTF
I dont know if this is a repost but why would anybody buy a 8.3 L Viper
that is totally outta control
For '04 the Viper expands upon the fine American tradition of Too Much Can Never Be Enough. The troglodyte V-10 is even more massive, punched out to an almost unbelievable 8.3 liters. That works out to in excess of 505 cubic inches, the equivalent of one 2004 Corvette 5.7-liter V-8 plus one average-size V-6--or three Honda Accord engines. It's also 80 cubes bigger than the legendary Dodge 426 Street Hemi that was perhaps the ultimate muscle-car engine of the 1960s and '70s.

The Viper is awesome, they are a bit much for the street though......hence why I got very little use out of mine.
But they are awesome toys, an M5 isn't even in the same ballpark of fun as a Viper is (that goes without saying, wildly 2 different cars). Vipers certainly aren't for everyone though, even people who are in the market for $80k sports cars.
While I don't think the new SRT looks quite as good as the Gen II GTS, it is a better car all around.
I still wouldn't mind another one, but for right now that would have been a stupid thing to do.

also, the new viper is awesome, but of course its not a daily driver. its for enthusiasts. if your hang up is its 8.7 litres then look at some of the HD trucks. i remember Chevy had a HD Suburban that had an 8.2 litre engine. sure you can get 500 hp out of a smaller engine, probably not the same torque tho N/A. the viper is a torque machine and its fun.

on that note, at what point do they take away your license for good providing its all speeding/wreckless driving?

there is a guy that works up the street that drives his everyday, I can't imagine what it's like in the rain
I think 8.3 is excessive because it doesnt perform better than the Vette with 5.7 V8 or other sport cars with smaller displacement
at what point is the engine size and weight become its own detriment
cant follow the American philosphy
if it takes one man.... a minute to screw in a light bulb... then lets get 60 men to do it that way it will be done in one second.

stock vs stock it will be a good race...there is no way the viper is killing the Z06.
I havent witnessed it yet
I understand Lou's first post well. Aside from going to a local track, if there is one near you, you will never use most of that power. I would like to see someone explain to the police officer why they were doing over twice the legal speed limit. Not to mention your already a ticket magnet in a bright red viper.
edit: In terms of domestic cars the viper doesn't own, but is close to owning. Like Mattg said theres the GT and there is also the Saleen S7. But once you factor in price everything changes.

that's fucking retarded, that's like saying I can make a 1.8 honda motor faster then a viper, sure I could, but i'd still rather have the viper
