2.3 vs Contour SVT

I was coming down rt 29 from howard county last night and i was going about 50 and this SVT contour pulls up next to me and the guy stares at me. He has some glo lights and stupid shit but nothin for his engine. I have a intake so far and thats it. Wel hee he waves his finger at me like he wants to go so i was like ok whatever. so i drop the auto back into 2 and hit it. From there ikept shifting up around 6 rpm until i got to d4. I had him until like 90-95 and then he slowy blew by me. Now i know that those things are pretty fast and he will smoke me if its off the line stand still but i felt pretty good about my car last night. Gotta get more mods like headers and catback then ill be set. Does anyone know the times on a contour svt? Those things are pretty fast right?!

auto but i really ahte it i awnt a manual tranny but i dont know how much and where. Does anyone else know

That's probablly why the contour took u....u got an automatic 4 banger. See us 3.0CLer would of handle our busy tight.

i'm not saying 2.2/2.3 are weak.....just the automatic one. I think the only reason people get 2.2/2.3 is for the 5-speed, true? if the 3.0 is manual there won't be 2.2/2.3 at all.

To answer your question i think to switch from an auto to a 5-speed run you around 500-1000 depending on how much a CL/Accord EX 5-speed tranny cost.

BTW, on ur other thread you were planning to buy a carbon fiber shift boot?......for you automatic? well you are should the the one for the 94-97 Accord.

Just cause a 2.3 has an auto tranny doesn't means its weak. My auto 2.3 ran a 14.8 1/4 mile which alot faster than most of the 3.0's on this board.

A23cl contours are not fast they run like mid 15's in the 1/4 mile. I really don't consider mid 15's fast. I would say a fast car is running atleast 13's in the 1/4 mile but hey thats just my opinion.

my 2.2 auto isnt fast but with my i/h/e/p/cat she pulls ok keeps up with stock cord v6s at low speeds, but not on the highway. just waitin to blow my tranny so i have to buy a 5spd. i drop gears all the damn time, i bet the damn thing never goes

ive seen them run 14.8-15.3 stock. with 200hp and a 5speed i dont see how a 2.3 auto could keep up?

I had a recent run in with one of those Contour SVT. it was a manual and i killed it BAAAAD. I didnt even think the guy was going to race me, he was an older gentleman, but the light went green and he floored it. I didnt even have a chance to put it in SS or turn off VSA i gave it about 3/4 throttle and just walked it hardcore, even after he had about a full car-length head start. He was obviously very humbled....He didnt even look at me at the next light even though i was staring at him, then he turned into a parking lot and made a u-turn and went home with his tail between his legs....

I agree except I would consider a mid-low 14 sec car decently fast, a 13 sec car fast, and sub 13 sec car stupid fast with degrees of stupidity!

If you bottle feed the 3.0 with 75 shots, i think the ET will be way lower than 14.8.

I'm not saying an auto 2.3 is faster than a 3.0, all I'm saying is that they are not "weak". I agree the 3.0 would have the lower et. But theres only like 5 or less 3.0s on the board that spray.

Are you guys saying that since I used nitrous on my 14 second run, that it doesn't count? Nitrous kits are just like any other bolt so i guess since I have headers, intake, exhasut, etc.. it doesn't count either.

In any case a23cl get a nitrous kit and you'll be able to beat an svt contour.

dcsquirm-did you spin alot off the line...how did you only run 14.8@100, that should be a real low 14s run. (im not calling BS im just sayin you should have had a lower et.)

I know the car would of gotten a faster ET if I could get better traction. Basically the car spun out like crazy but once it hooked up it accelerated nicely. It seems like my right tire does all the work off the line. My burnout marks usually only have one tire. I've only ran my car at the track once since the closet track to Miami is over 2 hours away. Once my cars running again with the h22 swap i'll be going again. Hopefully I'll break into the 12's.

mid 15's is decently quick for a four door family car, of course the tl-s and cl-s is faster but they are also much nicer. I wanted a contours svt for a while, but they aren't the greatest cars, I take pride in saying that I drive an Acura.

Good kill. Much as I hate to admit it, some people just can't drive. I saw a guy running high 16s - low 17s in his SVT. A decent driver will be in the 15.2 range. For the record, I'm 2-0 against my wife in the TL-S.

I HAD AN SVT F#@K WIT ME ON THE SPRINGFIELD PARKWAY IN VA COMING FROM MANASSAS HE WOULDN'T LET ME PASS HE KEPT SPEEDING UP BUT ONCE I SEEN A LIGHT TURN RED I GOT OVER TO LET HIM PULL UP ALONG SIDE ME I JUST DROP MY AUTO IN FIRST AND SMASHED IT AND HE DIDN'T EVEN TRY SO I GUESS HE WAS SACRED

So did I but I couldn't live down the cheapness of the interior as well as those Fugly side skirts and rear skirt.
