$1700 Dealer quote to fix VSA module??
$1700 Dealer quote to fix VSA module??
Hey Guys, the ABS, VSA and '!' lights came on in my 01 Acura CL-S. I thought it could be a wheel speed sensor but the dealer checked it out and said that its the VSA module.. Where is this unit located?
I trust this dealership because my friend works in the service dept - he even said its not worth the expense to go through the dealer. In addition to figuring out where this module is located, is there any place to get them cheaper? used? Does anyone have a part number?
I sincerely appreciate any help that you guys can give..
Thanks

the VSA module lists for 16XX on acura oemparts . com so 1700 to fix is not a bad price. It is on the front of the intake manifold and you can buy a used part if you want

You can buy it used from many junkyards for around $300, it is easy to do and should take less than 30 minutes to remove and replace. All you need is some basic hand tools & a bit of brake fluid. I used this website to help me located the part for sale at junkyards http://www.uneedapart.com/ and if I remember right the part # is 57110-S3M-A70 (<-double check that though!)
It is located on the passenger side engine compartment right next to the windshield wiper fluid filler neck, it is the gray box with several brake lines attached to it.

as far as being an expensive part
, not a cheap piece to manufacture in the first place (alot of machining)

My dad just had his replaced. I don't know the total bill but I think it was around $700 with a used part which is a lot cheaper than the 16xx new. I would think used would be the way to go. He got 235k out of the first one, so shouldn't have to change it again.
quite good, but regular brake fluid flushes will extend that even further though (assuming that the issue was probably sticky valves or something, just guessing though, but a good chance that is what it is though)
