Help on Making Wheel Decision

Alright, I've narrowed it down to two wheels, but I need some more help on making the final decision. Its either going to be:

18x7.5 TSW Volcanos w/ +40mm offset

OR

18x7.5 Racing Hart C5s w/ +42mm offset

Just to let everyone know, I will be dropping my car with Neuspeed Koni Yellow Shocks paired with Neuspeed Sport Springs (1.5"F+1"R)

My main concern even though I've read before is the issue with the offset. For both these offsets, would I still be ok with going with 235/40/18 tires? Would this make the wheels stick past the fenderwell? From pics, they don't seem to, but the pics aren't very clear. Would getting 225/40/18 be the only way to keep the wheels from sticking past the fenderwells? I made the mistake with my previous car on getting wheels without compensating for offset. The wheels were just outside of the fenderwell and it sucked, so I want to make sure that this will be ok and I won't have issues with bottoming out and rubbing.

If people had pics of each setup showing the +40mm or +42mm offset, that would be very helpful. Oh, 2mm cannot make a huge difference right?

Thanks guys for your help!

Go with the TSW, the Racing Harts don't look so hot on the TSX. :twocents:

I love the TSWs too, but the offset issue is my main concern. I will be installing a camber kit, so if the only way for it to be tucked in there is with negative camber, then these are not the rims for me.

Is the +40 offset the only offset they are available in for the size you want?

PM VWong. He's running a 19 inch wheel with +40 offset, and experiences minor rubbing issues, with no rear alignment.
IMO, If you have 18 x 7.5 and run a 225/40 tire, on springs and shocks, you'll be fine, even with an alignment (properly adjusted camber).
VWongs is lowered a whole lot more than that set-up you are looking at will give you.

I remember that post as well. Someone said that the quality was not that great, but I really think that depends on the situation. Like suspension setup, size of pothole, size of bump, etc...

I know the Racing Harts are probably more durable, but...damn it...decisions.

Doesn't VWong have like a 2-3" drop???

I'm only going with 1.5" Front and 1" Rear.

I know a guy from Hawaii (the pic up top) has them with 19x7.5 and he says its close to rubbing or something like that...

Ok, so maybe I'll go with 225s instead of 235s. I take everyone's advice seriously on this board so I hope this works out.

225/40 works good on a 7.5 inch rim. I am running 225/40 on an 8 inch wide rim, and no problems. Hopefully you don't drive like some members though and run into curbs and shit like that.

LOL, I am going to do my best to avoid dumass fuckups like that, though I've been known to let my guard down once in awhile and get curb rash, but that was with the Integra, I'm going to be more conscious about my driving with the TSX.

Alright, more opinions are welcomed before I make a decision.

18x7.5 +40 will be fine, I have 18x7.5 +42 225/40/18 w/ pro kit and have never rubbed

TSW's are sweet and the +40 offset should be fine.

As always, I researched my brains off to find the best deal. I was speaking with the guy at www.wheelsdirectonline.com and I will be able to get 18" TSW Volcanos w/ 225/40/18 Falken Ziex 512s for $1255 shipped!

He gave me this quote a couple weeks ago, so I hope he holds to it. I haven't heard back from him yet, but they don't open up until 11am EST.

Yep, we'll be the only two TSXs in the US (I think) with these wheels

No I just ordered a set of them too so actually there are three of us that have those wheels now.

Nice wheels I think they should look hot on your car with the drop once it is all done and installed.

Keep this in mind when choosing your wheel/tire sizes. You will be working with 1.75 - 1.80" of actual front drop and 1.0" rear. Don't just look at the "advertised" drop.

Alright, maybe I should preset the rear shocks to be .5" lower. What do you guys think?

Does this appear instantly or do the Neuspeed Sports have to settle a bit?

Personally, I would do 1/4" higher in front and 1/4" lower in the rear rather than just a full 1/2" lower in the rear.

I think even at 1.5" F and 1.25" R, the drop is very noticeable. It always helps to preserve ride quality and prevent bottoming out by preserving as much suspension travel as possible.

Ok, I'll use that as my first setting and see how it looks after a week or two to let the springs settle.
