Window Motor

2004 6 spd.

Anyone replaced a window motor?

My rear passenger window motor is broken, but I can't see how the "cables" joined to the track inside the door are attached.

Manual says, after going thru the electrical tests, "replace motor".

I got it loose, but I have to disengage it from the plastic window tracking mechanism.

By the way, can't believe how many components on this car are made in China.

The wiring inside the doors. Surprised to see that. How can it be cheaper to get it from China? Just don't understand this economy

Window motor/regulator is replaced as a unit. It's extermely difficult to get the cables slack enough to disconnect them, and even then, the only way is with the whole assembly out of the car on the bench. From Acura, the parts are only available as a complete assembly (motor/regulator).

Gotcha.
Just realized I was looking in Body Electrical section 22 of the manual, and removal of the motor/regulator is in Body section 20.
Came out in 30 seconds.
Problem was the cable is frayed almost to breaking. That was the source of the noise which sounded like dirt in the mechanism. There was plenty of grease on everything.
Now I can see it's all one unit.
Wonder how much it's going to cost?
Wonder if Honda shares the same parts? The Honda dealer has been cheaper for the same shared parts, in past experience. I'm hoping the Accord uses the same stuff.

Part number is here.

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

You'd have to check a Honda parts catalog to see if the same part # is used on a Honda.

Window Motor

As a F/up, if you're going to do this yourself, it takes 1/2 hour to put everything back together. Make sure you take all the plastic snap tags off the door, and fit them to the inner door panel, so you can then just push the panel back into the door. And before that, hang the plastic sealing liner from the top so you can line up all the holes for bolts etc correctly.

Didn't have time to go to the Honda dealer yet, but I will.
My wife bought me a Dream Cars tour Sunday am.
Starting in lowest order of preference: Porsche 911, Aston Martin Vanquish, Lamborghini Murcialago, Ford GT, Bentley Conti GT, Ferrari 430.
Awesome! Half hour with each, on the roads in northern NJ.

But then we drove home to reality in the TSX, and I played with the rear window ....

I know this an old thread maybe someone has the answer..
I have to same issue. But I have looked at Autozone and they sell the motor separately. I Tested all things and determined the motor is at fault.

My problem is how do you take the wires off of the motor without removing the entire assembly. Or if you have to remove it all how do you remove the wires from the motor out of the door? Is there a way. I am ordering the motor today and maybe once I have the replacement it will help. Well anyhelp is appreciated.

Suggest going for a used part (car-part.com or ebay) and replace motor and regulator. Looks like $50-$75 bucks should find a part. That's what I've always done on Honda products.

good luck

Recently my window has gone bad, the plastic clip holding the cables broke and the spool came off the window motor.

I'm going to be attempting to replace the window motor only, I just wish there was a thread or picture detailing exactly how the window regulator cable goes spooled up on the window motor.

anyone? If not, I'll find out how it goes through trial and error and report back with an update since this is becoming a fairly common problem as our 3rd gens have gotten older.

If you don't have a shop manual, suggest downloading one (automanualsource.com) for $22. This will provide most guidance you need. I looked on youtube, but did not find a TSX video. However did see following TL video which should be similar to TSX.

I found that heating adhesive on vapor barrier allowed it to release w/o damaging plastic barrier.

After review, this window regulator arrangment is same for Accords also, so TXS is very likely to be same.

good luck

I missed you were trying to repair your regulator. I tried this once and gave up. A new regulator is not expensive, particularly used. Repair of regulator not worth the grief/effort IMO.

good luck
