Slow cranking on new 2006

I've had my 2006 for less than a week now and have noticed that when starting the engine the starter seems to crank slowly. I noticed this when I went to leave the dealer. Starts fine and no idiot lights showing. Anyone else with this problem?

My salesperson mentioned that the only problem he had with his 2004 was to replace the battery.

I get this too. I think moda_way explained it that because of the high compression ratio of the engine, it takes a bit more to turn it over.

Yeah, I stated that.

Same reason why it takes a little more feather on the clutch to get it moving from a stop than most other Hondas/Acuras.

Only solution is getting a battery with higher cold cranking amps, like an Optima.

Mine is getting especially difficult whenever it gets around 20F.

The engine also takes a little longer to crank than most others becuase the computer is continuously adjusting everything to try to find the lowest emmissions way to start as possible. I think i read that somewhere here.

But... a weak battery or defective is possible. I remember reading when the 04's just came out that several people had defective batteries. So just take it to the dealer and they'll run a battery diagnostics for you.

its the battery. The battery is manufactured for japan. I switched out my battery in the middle of the summer because of where i live, it gets down to -52oC at record, and basically only half the car starts. i believe the oem battery is rated at 400cca...i got a battery with 650cca, starts fine in winter, sounds different in the summer too

My service guy made a special point of telling me this when I bought my car. He said a lot of people notice it and not to freak out over it.
