Problem with CD Player

I have 04' Navi, whenever I start up my car I hear the sound of CD chaning noises, like the thing is spinning but when I try to load a disc nothing happens. Its like its not getting power, its not responding to anything. the radio navi and everthing works except the CD changer. Anyone know anything?

What does the display show? Are there any discs in there - I'm assuming its empty.

Sounds like its hosed. Dealer can probably replace it but it might cost a pretty penny.

If you have an iPod, look into integrating that, may be a cheaper way to go than fixing the CD changer.

2004 should be still under warranty unless you have over 50,000 miles.
Take it to the dealer they should replace the all unit for free

Just a heads up.....I have the same problem and I have 85K miles. I called the dealership and they can't replace just the cd changer, they have to replace the whole head unit.

List price $1300

Not entirely true. The player unit is part # 39175-SEC-A81 on the 2004. Found it at Sunnyside Acura for $1154.86. Just thought you all might like to know.

EDIT: Found it at Delray Acura for $1088.36

True, sorry if I made it sound cheaper. At $1k, you have many options for a custom setup.

So since you have a salvage car, is Acura's warranty still in effect?? Doubtful...But I guess you could take it back to the shop and tell them its not working.

I had the same problem on my Nissan I had before this. I could hear it making sounds when the car turned on and then nothing. I tried everything, including chaging the fuses, but when I took it into Nissan to be fixed (cause I was selling the car) I thought I would need a new deck but they told me it was a fuse and all they did was change that and I was fine. I figure there must have been another internal fuse I didn't know about because I was sure the ones in the fuse box were fine. So maybe the same thing is true with the TSX

Yeah thats what the guy at autozone said, he said to take it to the dealer and ask about an internal fuse. I'll be kinda mad if it doesn't work or i'll just get the IPod Drive unit from alpine for <$300

wclark, did you ever solve this problem?

My cd changer is also refusing to work. Raido works fine, but when I press CD/Aux n othing happens. Load button doesn't work also.

The changer is making some noises when I first turn it on, but NOTHING appears on the screen, not even error codes. I am not under warranty and dealer wants $110 just for diagnosis alone!

Help!!

I never "fixed" the problem, I just ignored it and the sound eventually stopped, but my CD player still won't work. I press the load button and nothing happens, so I need to replace the cd changer before I try to sell the car, or hopefully people would be happy with the D-link Ipod thing I have.

Too bad... I may try to take it apart to fix it, or maybe not. I have an icelink iPod adapter too, so it's not too big of a problem. Thanks for reply.

If anyone finds out how to fix this problem, please let us know!!

Thanks!

No, it just makes the noise when I turnk ignition to ON, but nothing at all happens when I press on CD or LOAD buttons.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks!

Broken CD Changer

I finally got to taking apart the CD changer. After carefully examining the mechanisms, I have discovered that my CD changer had unfixable damage of the gears, head was compeletely misaligned and stuck. I had to completely take the whole thing apart (it's pretty complicated) just to get to the spot where it was stuck. Because Acura doesn't sell the gears separately, I ended up not bothering to even put it back together.

To summarize: If your CD changer is making noise when you turn ignition to ON but does not appear to work, then something is misalligned inside; and trust me: you probably can't fix it yourself, so don't waste your time (like I did). Just buy a replacement unit or an iPod interface.

I think it would have been better off, finding out who makes the changer and contact them for the part. Acura does not make any radios or changers.
You could always buy the optional MP3 player as it plays both mp3 and CD. I was told buy my local car audio shop that this happens to all facory CD chnagers over time. It is based on use and not time.
