pebbles in oil?????????//

ive done 3 oil changes. the first on was a 3,000 mile duration adn when emptyed and funnels into a container you could see what looked like sand bits on the catch can. i didnt think this was right and felt really bad for my car(sydney) there wasnt a lot but you could see like 10-30 bits. so i changed my oil 1,000miles to see what would happen from the last one(onliy took about a week and half) and drained it looked at catch can and nothing not one bit. so i figured nohing and went lil over 4,000 on the last change. and again there were bits of something in the pan. i use 5w-30 castrol trishield. (when i got the car it had a little over 60000 miles and figured it was to late for syn. i never let the oil go over 3500, 4000 was rare and bad i just feel better about new stuff in her. but it seeems the shorted i got the less bits i see and wonder if anyone else has seen that and whatit could be? carbon, deposits, etc.. i just hate seeing that and always wonder what it does inside. and right now i have a gutted intake with res and all piping removed just the arm that hangs down like the ice box. like that clean look compaired to the aem .

Are you sure it's sand, and not tiny bits of plastic from the gutted intake chambers? Triple-check that the intake is totally clean inside.

Also, it's never too late for synthetic. It's the same weight as dino oil but doesn't break down as easy, is more consistent in its performance, and can tolerate higher heat and cold than dino without significantly altering its lubrication/viscosity properties.

What oil filter are you using? Use a good one, like a Bosch 3323 (black filter), a Mobil1, a Purolator, or a Wix GOLD (from Napa auto parts). If you're using a Fram or an off-brand store-brand filter, it could very well be that the filter isn't doing its job, or, the filter is eroding and letting its filter media come loose.

are you sure your funnel and oil drain pan are clean?
like curls mentioned, are you changing the filter?

I'll repeat, its never to late to switch to synthetic.

yea i like i said i use castrol tri shield and a k&n oil filter PN: hp1010. i thought that if you switch to late that on high mileage engines(mine has 122,xxx0 that the gaskets can erode. but i never let it go past 3,000 and i always clean my funnel be and after use same for pan so i dont get anything into the engine. and when i did the intake i cleaned everything with compressed air and wiped it out clean with rubbing alc. when i first got the car i wou7ld just bring it into my local oil change shop and have them do it and when i first changed my oil on this car like a 8 months ago i noticed there filter looks like crap but i guess i got what i paid for so paying $14 for a filter that i know is doing its job is fine to me. i just didnt know what it could be.

Do it every 15,000 miles on my vehicles.

Catch some warm oil in a the bottle thry provide...wrap it up with the enclosed stuff...put a check or credit card info in with it...take the container AND THE LETTER THEY HAVE ON THEIR WEBSITE to the Post Office.

Some Post Office personnel are familar with oil analysis from commerical operation that ship there, but most get flaky when you say YES to the liquid question and then tell them it's motor oil.

They won't necessarily tell you what the "pebbles" are, but they will tell you in detail what materials are in your oil...and that will tell you if you have an engine problem building.

Add in remarks what you are seeing in the oil you drain...it'll clue them to look closely.
