oil on mid

I dont drive that much so i dont get too many miles. i go past the "change oil by DATE" by around 5 monthes but i only hit about 4200 miles per change when the mid reads 5-10% while others hit 5000+ before an oil change. am i not driving right or am i not getting those miles because of how long it takes to reach those miles?

Believe it or not, they say it's the number of start-ups (more notably, cold start-ups) that really determines oil life versus time or miles driven

so that sticker on the top left corner of windshield is pointless?
it says oil change on 2/5/07 or at 10000 miles and im on 0% at 9300. thats what is driving me to ask this question. am i driving lame or is it asking for an oil change at this early mileage because its way past the date?

the dealer I usually take my car to for service does not use the reminder stickers anymore-they recommendgoing by the oil life reminder in the car. the first oil change for my 06 tsx was at 7,099 miles (1,200 miles past due on the mid) and my 2nd oil change was at 14,982 miles (1,962 miles past due) I took my car to a acura dealer near me for that oil change. the put on the little sticker which recommends an oil change with 3,750 miles. I will go by the first dealer. 0% at 9300 is great.

I just had my first oil change the "A" service on my car and i only had 4180 miles on the car but i was just about to hit 15%. I did it because i wanted to get it changed prior to heading to VA on a long 400 mile round trip (which didn't end up happening anyway). I would have waited until 5k miles but your fine dude, so people even had it changed out at 3500 miles. Just go by the MID, it monitors, startups, RPM rev's, trip distance, all that stuff, its a pretty smart machine

to me a 400 mile round trip is a mini-trip (LOL). every few weeks I travel from NC to NJ (635 miles one way) and then head back. I start my trip before 6a.m. and depending on the traffic i am usually at my destination no later than 5 p.m. I think the shortest time was 81/2 hours one time. I drive no more than 10 miles over the speed limit. I try to get the oil changed at 5,000 miles but it always manages to go over.

You are way overdue.

J/K just make sure your oil is not burnt and you let your car cool off before checking the levels with the dip-stick.

I only get 240 city and when I went to the keys (highway) the other day I got like 300 and still had more than a quarter tank. I drive pretty aggressive.

yea youre right, sticker-wise im way overdue but mid-wise, i need to change the oil now.i just cant grasp the idea that i cant get your kind of mileage on an oil change. so im figuring that the reason why is that i dont drive enough and the time limit overrides the mileage limit?
