hey guys,

today I had a key new key (modded 07 tl) programmed and added to my cars system. I didn't notic it there but as I was leaving I noted that the yelllow emissions light was light up.

checked the manual and it said to check the gas tank but that was already tight...

any ideas what could've caused this??

We'd need the CEL code to tell you what it is. Any other mods you haven't mentioned that could've contributed?

 

no mods...bone stock TSX...any quck ways to get the CEL code without goin to the dealer?

 

a local auto parts store (autozone, pep boys, etc) will usually have a code reader they will let you use for free. you can figure out what the code is, and clear it from the car.

 

if there is nothing wrong and I clear it..the light will go away..

but if there IS somthing wrong and I clear it..will the light just come back on??

I don't want to clear it and there is sometthing wrong and it goes unfixed...

Correct. My understanding of OBD II is that if there is a sequence of 10-15 starts and the problem occurs with some regularity or is consistantly out of spec, then the CEL will light. It would take some 25-50 additional starts without the out of spec issue in order to clear it on its own and even then it goes into history. Either way, get the code, clear it and we can go from there. Giving the code to Acura, if it is an issue, will give them insight too.

 

I accidentally pulled the wrong fuse out one time when trying to replace the accessory socket fuse. My emissions light came on as well. Try checking your fuses or even pulling the battery terminal off to "reset your car." If it's a legit problem, then the light should come back on right?
