My new '05 TSX won't start

This is my first post. I'm a new TSX owner, and my friend told me about this forum.

On Friday, Dec 24th, I went to the dealership to pick up my new '05 TSX with navi. I test drove the car again and made sure that everything looked OK before I signed the contract. I drove the car home (really enjoyed it) and parked it in my garage. For the next hour, I was reading through the manual and trying few things out on the audio system and the navi (nothing any regular person wouldn't do when he first got his new car). About 2 hours later, I wanted to take the car out, but it wouldn't start. When I turned the key to the START position, all the lights in the instrumentation panel started flashing really fast, and the car was making this "ts ts ts ts" sound. The car has a full tank of gas, and the indicator on the battery itself displays blue (which means OK).

I don't regret choosing a TSX, but I'm feeling really bum out that this happened to me on the very same day I picked up my new car. I'm having the car towed back to the dealership on Monday, and I hope they will fix the problem ASAP.

I just want to share my story with you all, and any comment or advice would be greatly appreciated.

While the battery might indicate blue the few symptoms you describe lead me to think it's a battery issue. Let us know what the dealer found.
BTW, welcome to the site.

There's a possibility that you took enough power out of the battery while using the NAV system and the stereo with the motor turned off that when you went to start the car there wasn't enough. If you have AAA or a friend does, they could try and jump start it. They have these cool portable devices to jump start cars. You say its in a garage so I'm not sure how easy if would be for you to get it out and close enough to another car for a jump.

Let us know what the dealer finds.

I didn't try to jump start the car because I thought, this is a brand new car, first day on the ground, and I just didn't want to mess with it. I rather leave it as it is and let a mechanic look at it.

Is there a switch to turn on/off the trunk light? I didn't see one. I thought the trunk light just comes on when you open the trunk and goes off when you close it.

Kinda like the fridge light

If for some reason the car sat around a lot I can maybe see this but there's gotta be something else going on too, like loose battery cable, who knows. Are the battery cables taken off during shipping? Maybe they didn't put it back on right.

It's possible that there could be an issue with the anti-theft immobilizer.......

I'm gonna go with the battery is dead, all that Navi/audio sans motor may have drained the juice....But keep us posted, I'd be really interested to see if it was not the battery

Could be a dead battery or if all the accesories work fine in run but it clicks when you try to start you could have a lose battery cable, if the connection is lose you can get enough juice to fire up the accesories but when you try to draw the amps needed to turn the car over it just shorts out

just my

Thats what you have roadside assitance for

I called the Acura roadside assistance number, and they sent out a guy to jump start my car. I've been using the car for the last couple of days and haven't encounter any more problem. I did played with the navi/sound system with the engine off, so I guess I drained the battery

I can now finally enjoy my TSX

Thanks guys for all your inputs.

You gotta love a guy who loves his car. Way to love your car into a lull.

That's wickedly funny.

All the best with your car!

what could have been the issue is if ur car was on the lot a long time, then they used that battery charger to start the car up. if u live close to the acura dealer and drove 10 min to get home it was not enough to fully charge the battery and then looking at the stero/navi for two hours lead to the battery being drained..... that's my theory.... btw how far is the acura dealer from ur home???

I have a CG 5AT and the same thing happened. I dont think its anything wrong with the car because i called the dealership and they said they had put a anti-theft kind of lock on it whihc prevented the engine from starting. This was just a secuirty precuation because the car was always displayed outside the dealership. They just came over with some technicians and removed it and the car was ready to go.

That's ludicruous. I listen to music for hrs w/o end while washing the car (usually 2-3 hrs) and never had a problem. And my audio setup is NOT stock! It really likes juice.

The car must have been used for demonstration earlier in the day, and left on for too long.

I want to continue this thread because my car almost didn't start yesterday while I was on a road trip. One poster has mentioned that he can play the audio for 2-3 hours with the engine off and that isn't a problem. I'm wondering how much battery the navi drains compared to the audio system. Is it just a bad idea period to use the navi while the engine is off?

Hmm... have the dealer do a "battery test" or you can do a free one at autozone. They'll hook up everything and can do a full electrical system test for free. I think it may be a bad battery.

Hey, I did a battery check at the dealer today and it is fine. He told me that I should never use the navi or audio with the engine off. I guess that works for me now that I know.
