Faulty Transmission Switch?

I just posted this message regarding Low Gas Mileage and thought I may receive a quick response to a question I have.

I just purchased a 2005 Acura TSX w/o Nav (9/5/05). I picked it up and it had 8 miles on it. The first tank of gas lasted about 4-5 days which was approx. 14 mpg. I was a little worried and called the service manager. I also told him about the slight vibration during a stop after the car was driven a while but not when the car was cold. The service manager informed me that during the break-in period (first 1000 miles) the car will not get good mileage. If after the 1000 the problem persisted, he wanted me to bring it in.

The next tank was no better and I was getting frustrated (gas here is $3.26 for prem) $42-43 to fill up the tank (even my old 94 Legend got better mileage!) every 4-5 days was killing me! I stopped letting the tank empty before filling up and started calculated based on the amount of gas and mileage (obsessive/compulsive I know). It was hugely erratic (I always used prem gas). One time I got 26 mpg another it would be 13 mpg!

Today, driving to work on the freeway, the engine light came one as well as the Manual light (I was driving in D-auto) and the D light was blinking. It turns out the funny mileage and vibration I felt when stopped at a stop light (not consistently) was due to a faulty transmission switch. It is being replaced now and covered under the warranty. However, I'm worried that I drove this car 800 miles with the car being confused as to whether I wanted Manual or Auto.

Does anyone know what other parts of the car this may have affected and what I should look out for in the future due to my driving this car like this? Many many thanks for any advice and information!
