Angry check engine light at 1,100 kms

First, there's a squeaking noise coming from behind my NAVI which they did fix. Now, after 1,100 kms, a check engine light. When I started the car, it was kind of hesitating to start, but did start. So I shut off the engine, turned it back on, and the check engine light comes on. Has anyone experienced a check engine light right after the car was broken in?

Did you fill up your tank recently? Check your gas cap first to make sure it's tight.

I filled up yesterday, and I always turn the cap until I hear the "clicks" numerous times. Plus, would the gas cap cause the car to hesitate upon starting it?

I think you probably should take it to the dealer so they can pull the code to find out what the problem is. Btw, could it be bad gas?

The funny thing is....after I filled up, I turn the gas cap so I hear the "clicks" a few times....no engine light at that time until a day later. So, the 1st thing I checked was the gas cap. Took it off, screwed it back in, still the light. Did it a 3rd time later on last night...still no change. This morning I did it again, light still on. So I drove to the dealership told them about the issue. The service advisor took the cap off, then screwed it on, this time the light went out. I know how to put a gas cap on (lol), but don't know why when the service advisor did it, it was resolved. Oh well....plus....wouldn't the light come on immediately after the fill up if I didn't put the cap on properly, and not a day later?

With OBD II, the computer system (in general) that monitors engine parameters, on some faults, it will take a number of starts to reset (turn the light off) when the`problem` condition goes away. Best way to identify the cause is to plug in the reader when the light first comes on (if the reader is available).

You need to take your keys out when filling up as well.

OT: Encyclo, I have a friend who was a test pilot at Bell Helicopter (still works there occasionally), his name is Marc Pharand, do you know him?
