Check Emissions light..Need Help

I have a 2006 TSX with navi. I just bought it a few weeks ago from a small dealer. Today while i was driving the check engine light came on with my info screen saying "check emissions".

I had the codes pulled and then reset...light came back on within 5 mins from reset.

Codes were P1172 and P2195 sensor 1 bank 1

Ive owned many hondas but im new to the k24 motor. Im assuming that i have a bad af sensor from doing some reading, i haven't read of any TSX's with bad injectors or manifold leaks.

Anyone have experience with this issue and could provide help? i would really appreciate it. I DON't want to replace the $213 sensor when its not going to fix the problem.

Also, i have read that the TSX has an emission warranty...did that include the 06 model year?

thanks for any help or input

Check you owner's manual for the warranty information, and don't forget.... the "check engine" light is only for emmisions related problems, so it's probably an 02 sensor (someone here should be able to tell you what those two codes are telling you). Plus, with 52K miles on the car, if you're under the 4 years, an Acura dealer might good will the repair (although if it's the first time you've walked through the door, don't hold you're breath).

P1172 is "Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Out of Range High". Without HDS, check connections at Sensor and ECU/PCM, reset and check for return...if return, probably replace sensor.

P2195 is "Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Signal Stuck Lean". Same process for check and probably for replace except possible need to update ECU/PCM.

On the whole, sounds like an emission issue and it should be covered under either that or the 5/70 powertrain warranty that started in 2006.

again try some high octane fuel and a fuel cleaner reset the battery and a good hard drive should sort it out

ok so i replaced my primary af sensor with an Acura OEM replacement. Had my mechanic reset my check engine light and everything is good to go. I've put 35 miles on it so far and the light has not come on. I guess my af sensor just went bad at 52k.

hope this helps anyone with my problem

yeah i know things like that go bad, it just sucks because i had to put new tires on both it and our civic within the same month then that went bad followed by the civic starter dying.
