Rear Left Brake Light (Out?)

Alright, I have some weird stuff going on with my rear-left brake light. The light works, it is not out, but when I hit the brakes it does not get any brighter. I assume it has to do with the circuitry but I really have no clue. Has anybody dealt with this problem before? If so, how do I fix it? Is it a matter of replacing the light bulb itself?

Our brake lights are dual filament bulbs. One filament is on when our parking brake or headlights are on, the other filament lights up when we brake. Switch bulbs with the other side and test.

Hey thanks I had no clue our brake lights were dual filament. I'm going to guess that's the problem but I'll swap bulbs just for troubleshooting's sake. Do you know how much these usually run for?

About $5-10/pair. Pepboys, Kragen, Autozone, etc.

Just an example - Sylvania Long Life 7443.

Ha good to know. I've dropped so much money into my car recently but I can't ignore a broken brake light. I'm fine with dropping a few bucks like that.
