bought it one year ago with 19500 on the odo bought it with a 100k 10 year warranty through a trustworthy Nissan dealership. I dont know if this has to do with anything, but it had some kind of permanent marking on the engine cover. If you were looking at the engine it'd be on the upper left and had (i think) a 5 digit code, dunno if they replaced the engine or what happened, I went over to the dealership and had a history report of everything done to the car (it was right across the street) and nothing showed up besides oil changes. So I'm kind of puzzled. PM me lets not get off topic with this thread.
OK, CEL code P1009 is "VTC Advance Malfunction"
Troubleshooting...since you don't have the HDS to reset or check with, the following are the checks in Honda's list:
Remove power steering pump and auto tensioner, remove VTC strainer and check for clogging.
Test VTC oil control solenoid valve.
Inspect VTC actuator.
Check VTC system oil passages.
Say five Hail Marys and start again...
I can post the steps...but you'll need to be pretty comfortable working under the hood. If an oil top-up doesn't do it, you'll probably want a pro to check it out.
As for oil, TSX's burn (on average) 1/2 to 1 quart per 5000 miles.
