Brake problem: Is this normal?
Brake problem: Is this normal?
Changed out my rotors and pad a couple weeks ago, noticed that the pad wasn't making contact all the way on the rotor. I'm not sure if I installed these things wrong or this is normal
Here's a few pictures to show you what I'm talking about

excuse the ugly calipers, owner before me obviously had no taste

Contact patch is determined by the design of the pad. If the pads are narrow, then that is the contact patch you've got. Does this differ from the passenger side? Could be a caliper that needs to be rebuilt/replaced, could be your installation, etc etc. I'd be concerned though... seems small to me.
where's the damage at? I did the job. The pads went in place just find, both calipers seem to be working (no pulling). I did notice that the pads don't reach all the way down to the hub, so I don't think it's a problem of uneven pressure, just simply narrow pads. The brakes work fine, actually worked better than before. I'm going to go talk to Autozone and see if they think it's normal, they are the ones who gave me the pads, so I'd assume they'd be at fault if they were the wrong ones
