blown fuse in two weeks of ownership

hey gang, i've had my car for just over two weeks now and yesterday upon plugging my cell phone charger in, I noticed that the accessory power adapter plugs no longer worked...after popping open the fuse box and checking, sure enough the fuse had blown...has anyone else had issues with a fuse blowing so soon after ownership begins? I realize that it's just a fuse and fuses blow, but it seems pretty early for something like this to take place...TIA

I would check to see if there's anything inside the socket to short out the circuit.

If my memory serves my correctly, all the cases here with blown accessory fuses are due to foreign objects in the socket.

I had that happen to me once. That was because of cheap car chargers. When plugged the same charger in my friends car, his phone blew up. So I am guessing that it was the charger. Blew up the fus on mine, and phone in my friends car

it's a Verizon brand car charger for a Treo 700...I would think i should not have to go buy the Palm brand and that the Verizon branded one would be fine, but I'll just test it out...there was nothing else in either socket at the time, so i'll have to do some testing to see what caused the short...bought some fuses and replaced the blown fuse on my way back from lunch, so when i leave work i'll check it out...

remember you have two sockets running off the same line/fuse. check them both.

i have an inline filter connected to my nav/dvd cnonverter box and my dvd player on the front socket (spliced in) and my cell phone charger (treo 650) and ipod charger on the back socket all at the same time (chargers are both always plugged in on a splitter). no problems. i use the sprint charger also.

Verizon

I had my car for about two weeks as well when my 12v went out. I took the car in for service. I happen to be friends with a few of the service guys at the local dealership here. The first thing they said to me when i mentioned the fuses was Verizon! They said that there is something about the TSX and the Verizon car chargers that do not mix. I was told that probably 95% of the fuses blown on the TSX is from the verizon charger. I don't know how much truth this holds but thought I would share. And hey if nothing else I got a free wash and vacuum lol!
