Aux jack problems - any fix's out there?
Aux jack problems - any fix's out there?
I know this has been posted - I tried to search but "Aux" is too short to search for...
As you all know - our Aux jack sucks. Very frustrating that Acura would source a cheap-A$$ part for such a popular feature.
When an aux cable is fully inserted, there is a loud "electric" sounding hiss that gets louder as I accelerate.
The sound is perfect when the jack is slightly less than "fully in", however it is too loose and AUX comes in and out.
Anyone had luck with a certain cable?
Any "electrical tape" solutions out there?
Very frustrated...

I've never had any problem like this with mine, but that may be because I plugged a cable in the day I got hte car and haven't unplugged it since. Have you tried a different cable, maybe one w/ better shielding?
i dont have a problem with the aux jack when i plug my ipod into it, but i do have a problem sometimes with the other end of it plugged into the ipod itself. i have found out though that its the aux cable itself having a problem because whenever i plug it into something else you just have to twist it and mess around with it a little bit until its ok...so just check your aux cable connecting whatever it is to it.
deffinately get some better shielding on the cable you are using. If that doesn't help either take it to the dealership or try to shield that aux jack and stock wire running to the factory amp.
I have a bit of a different set up in my TSX, but I had the same hissing noise. I have a Monster iSplitter in my center console that I used to have both my iPod & Sirius Radio connected to the Aux outlet. I used 2 of the iSimple 3' 3.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Cables that I got at Best Buy. The cables sound great and you won't have any distortion noises. You can also get similar cables made by Monster. Hope I was helpful

Sounds like ground noise. Is your audio source plugged into the cigarette lighter for power when you hear this noise?
If you use a battery powered device, such as an Ipod, do you still get the noise?

I will try direct from Ipod and better cables.
^^ Yeah give that a try. My guess is that the whine will go away when it's running off of the Ipod batteries and not the DC power source.
You can get a Ground Loop Isolator that has 3.5 mm input/outputs if you need to.

btw i have the 3rd gen ipod so im sure they've made a new remote for the newer ipods
I use the Belkin Auto Kit in my '06...I have ZERO problems with it, and the sound quality is just fine. No hiss, no distortion, no whine...nothing but music via my ipod. I'm extremely pleased with the aux jack.
Maybe something in your setup is defective...

UPDATE:
So this weekend I went to Bestu Buy and purchased a premium cable ($20). The cable is very nice. I went out to my car and installed my old cheap cable to the Belkin Auto Kit and Aux input and it worked without hissing!!! I am currently using my new expensive cable but thinking about returning it - bottom line, everything is working well.
RE: Belkin autokit - this thing is nice. Using the output on the charger means less cable clutter and a fixed volume. Also, the Belkin automatically pauses (and then turns off) my iPod when I turn off the car - great feature!

i use the Belkin as well.. fyi any adatper that goes from cig lighter -> ipod Dock connector should also pause the iPod when the car is turned off. it's really the ipod itself that pauses when it loses power through the dock.
i have an issue with my AUX jack where its very touchy. if it gets bumped the wrong way i'll lose most of my Right channel on the audio in the car and can only hear Left. i have to touch it and jiggle it until i get back to full stereo. could be my cable i suppose.
wait just kidding i have the DLO transpod, not the same thing as you guys. its kinda annoying because its huge and im only using it to charge the ipod, and doesnt pause when you turn the car off. i looked up the belkin one and it looks like it would have been something i would have liked, had i not wanted oem stereo integration...USA-Spec is on it's way!
Just so i am clear... there are aux rca jacks on the stock tsx deck that can be used for ipod or dvd or whatever (sound)... does that include '04's with nav? where would i find these jacks?
