H1 High Beams Installation

Hey Azine, just needed some input on how to replace my H1 High Beam bulbs.

I've searched and found one similar thread called "High Beam Installation" but no one commented on it. Hopefully by now someone's done it before.

I know minkl's replaced his with Nokya H1 Hyper Yellow, which is the same that I just bought and received. Just need some pointers. Thanks guys.

I believe the Owner's handbook/manual that comes with the car has instructions. Fairly easy replacement process. IIRC, you just move that locking wire mechanism and take out the bulb.

Any specific way of removing it? Ive been tuggin at the bulb for the past 10 minutes, and no luck on either side. I removed the wire that's attached to the bulb, which exposes the two metal prongs.

I have yet to change any of my bulbs, but don't you unplug them then slightly twist them and then remove? Try that

I'll try that, even though that was the procedure for the H11 Fog Bulbs.

There's no way you can turn and pull, that's for the fog light installation and removal. The small slit for the bulb to go in is shaped like the bulb, so there is no turning. I've been pulling and pulling for an hour, and still no good. I'll just wait till later and when we have a install meet soon enough, I'll take my front end apart and just do some stuff.

Hasn't anyone done this that could offer some pics or help to get these High beams installed??

I would offer you some advice, but mine are still sitting in the packages until this 18degree temp changes to something warmer than 32 degrees outside...

OK, its super easy man, don't over think it.

1. Unplug the wires to the bulb. Its a rather sizeable harness.
2. Move the metal clip that holds the bulb in place.
3. Pull straight back out. DO NOT rotate it, just straight in and out.

Re-install in reverse order. Do it in daylight or with a friend and a flashlight and it shouldn't be any problem to see it.

I believe you have to push in the metal bracket upward motion to clip off the bulb. Its very easy to do. If you look into it you'll see some kind of wire metal bracket holding the bulb in place. Just push that in slightly and it will flip out.

Not to waste any of your times, Minkl's picture from his thread a bit back is probably a better representation of the H1 Nokya Hyper Yellows.

And plus, I do not have the foglight rewire, and he does.

Here you go, this is Minkl's car with Nokya H11 and H1 bulbs.

Yeah, I'm reconsidering doing this until maybe a bit warmer out or when I have help from more experienced friends around the area, *cough* Mike, Kevin or Dillan *cough*

I'm gonna give it one more try after I get off from work.

Has anybody reported what it is like to drive with yellow high beams? It seems to me like it would be inferior to white light for activating the fluorescent or retro-reflective paint in road markings and such, so you would lose contrast and as a result, visibility. Yellow fog lights are beneficial for more obvious reasons like glare reduction, but I'm curious if anybody who has done this reports increased or diminished visibility during night driving.

Honestly, I rarely use my highbeams, they're pretty much going on for aesthetics purposes only.

Yep, I did mine just for aesthetics. If anyone's interested, I can take a pic later being that it's about 78 degrees right now with nights in the mid 60's!

I like the yellow better, it still activates fluorescent signs/markers fine. Might just come down to personal preference.

still didn't find the clip? no need to tug anything. try pushing in either center left or right edge of the hole and feel if something pushes in.

Alright I'll give that a try tomorrow. If I still can't do it. I'll post pictures of what I'm doing.
