FYI : For anyone doing a engine swap

I have swapped the 04-05 TSX K24 with the 06-07 revised TSX K24 with more horsepower. It is a noticeble difference and was well worth it! After consulting Hondata I was able to use the same reflash I use with the older original motor! To top it off I sold the 04-05 K24 to a Civic guy for the same amount I bought the new motor for! You have to make small mods to make it work but for the most part it goes right in ! If you guys need any advice just ask.

I have to agree with the sentiment here. I've got an 05 and an 07 and the performance sure seems the same to me (and good luck selling the car).

I had a mis shift and bent a few things I would say. So instead of using the same engine I upgraded to the newer motor. And no i didnt upgrade for 5 hp! For one that motor has about 15 more hp and has many upgrades over the 1st gen K24. 15hp in addition to many other mods which makes a big difference.

The 06 TSX has the following improvements:

Increased intake flow:

Intake valve + 1 mm oversize
Intake cam High lift lobe with 0.9 mm more lift and 12 degrees more duration
Throttle body increased from 60-64mm
Radius on some intake pipes increased from 70-80mm
Increased exhaust flow

Exhaust Head pipe increased from 60-65mm
Higher flow catalytic converter
Main (single) exhaust pipe increased from 54-57mm
Rear (twin) pipes increased in diameter from 42.5 to 45mm
Block improvements:

Additional air passages in crankcase for reduced pumping losses

Other

Stronger connecting rods
New crankshaft with more counterbalance weight
Revised pistons with more valve-piston clearance

Check the dyno between the 04/06

damn, nice ride. how much did it cost to get the intake manifold polished, and where did you pick up your fuel rail from, and does that give any extra HP on the dyno?

The car has not lost any value at all because the it looks just like the original motor and they will never know it came out. It was professionally installed by a certified Honda tech and I still have my full warranty until 50K. Hell the dealer installed my headers , clutch and my lightweight flywheel free under warranty.

The manifold is powdercoated and I got a good deal. I got the fuel rail off Ebay. I have not put it on a dyno. But I will tell you what...with 19" rims I kept a 6spd G35 behind me and made him pull up to me at a light and ask did I have a turbo. So it hauls azz pretty good !!

^^ K100 is a CARB-legal plug-in flash chip progammed by Hondata (plugs in the ECU like a Kpro does) and is not programmable by the end user to make it CARB-exempt. So I have no idea how it is supposed to work in the TSX ECU since a Kpro won't.

What if they go to match the VIN on the engine block to any of the other ones on the car?

On paper, the 2004/2005 engine says it has 200 hp. In real life, it's actually 190 hp. Starting in 2006, Honda started using a corrected scale which more accurately states the engine's hp. The new scale was introduced so that car manufacturers can't claim more hp than the car actually has.

So in actuality, it is about 15 hp improvement.

Thank you all for the props on my ride! No I didnt give the guy who bought my engine the shaft. I dont BS people! The guy who bought my motor works at the shop that did the engine job so he knows exactly what happened. I got such a good deal on the motor that the value was about even. The motor was not destroyed it still ran and got me home from the track. Honda makes a strong engine if it can still run after going from the top of 3rd gear into second which probably sent the rpms well past 10 grand.

As far as checking VIN numbers on the motor they would have me then thats if they really want to go that far. The value doesnt matter because I am keeping my car anyway.

Did I notice a difference you say? ..............Yes. When VTEC kicks in at 5 grand in 1st and sometimes in 2nd the stock tires break loose. I can now chirp 2nd hard and sometimes 3rd gear. It has that VTEC punch like a B18.

The fuel rail just improves fuel delivery, gives you options to upgrade injectors and looks good.

As far as where I live and the dealership ..................If I tell I will have to kill you.

If I did gain any hp I would not know because I did so many mods at one time. As far as the weight of the car........I was shocked when I weighed it at the track. It is the lighter of TSX's because of the year and no navi. I just started by removing anything that the car didnt need inside and out without compromising appearance. I went as far as removing bumpers to find ways to reduce weight without making the car unsafe. The exhaust is lighter than stock etc.

No, I cut/drilled out some of the heavier materials from under the bumpers, engine bay, interior and trunk. It still looks stock but that crap was heavy and a pain in the azz to complete. But it was all worth it when I weighed in.

No the 2004-05 models do put out about 198 hp you can easily adjust this with a $300 dollar mod in the form of the Cat !

I cant remember it all because it was a while ago. But I shaved a few pounds from the actual bumper/ support, headlights, under the dash/console, under door panels, trunk liners, removed rear 6x9 subs, uneeded heat sheilds/engine parts , exhaust, rims , flywheel ,etc. It is a very labor intensive project but it is worth it. It started out as just a attempt to balance the weight from adding a sub/amp and larger rims but I ended up making the car lighter overall. I still have room to make it even lighter by going with carbon fiber body parts but you will not know beacuse I will paint them body color.
