I'd get an optima red top 35, which you can easily install yourself. I got one from 1st Optima Batteries.

Sorry, I don't know if they do or not. I think the Acura dealership is overpriced. You can check to see how much it costs from the parts department and do the installation yourself. Cerritos Acura wanted to charge me $86. Its more than the $52 I paid at Costco but a far cry from the estimate you're getting. I understand that the 04 OEM battery was pretty weak, I think 440CCA, whereas the replacement one available at the dealer is now 500CCA. If you do it yourself make sure you have your radio code before you disconnect the battery.

edit: Also, check your dealer's website for parts discounts. Cerritos Acura has an on-line coupon for 10% off parts. Even if your dealer doesn't post one it doesn't hurt to ask.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. The amount of cranks during cold starts is such an improvment but the summer starts is probably the same. I don't regret my yellow top at all.

The optima batteries have a 10 year warranty. Plus they will just about start up everytime unless you actually leave something on to kill it. Not only that, but it will last you a long long time. If will take the place of at least 2 OEM batteries. I would say it's worth it just for the reliability alone.

I have a 2006 TSX purchased in 6/06. Battery died in 2/08 after sitting for a week in frigid Detroit weather. Called up the parts dept. at local Acura dealer and they wanted over $100 for battery. I asked to speak if they had someone who could install it, they sent me over to service. After speaking with rep, they replaced the battery under warranty. Don't know if this is standard, but just wanted to share my experience. I used Suburban Acura in Farmington Hills, MI.

and yea, suburban acura is amazing. got my TL switchblade key there.
Ann Arbor acura isn't bad at all too, not so much customers honestly, so they do a good job, you always get a good loaner car. no waiting no delay

Last time i checked Optima does not come with 10 years warranty. Same as Costco. 3 years free replacement and 3 year prorated.

For triple the price compare to Costco, IMO, it is not worth it and I got mine from Costco.

Yes, that's what I thought the free replacement warranty for Optima is, not 5 free replacement and 5 prorated. Yes, OEM batteries aren't as good as after market ones and they are sold more expensive. If you really want maintenance free battery then go with Optima. There is no water in it (it's gel) and the top cover is completely sealed. The rest of batteries that they call "maintenance free" actually aren't free 100%. Once in a while you need to check the water level inside (pry of the lid/lids), although not as often as ancient ones that had 6 plugs that were easily opened.

I used regular batteries 2Y free replacement (bought in 3/02) for my previous 99 Accord (sold) and (bought in 05) 02 Town&Country. Accord's battery was still cranking strong when I sold it last year (8/07). Town&Country still keeps going and going strong.

dropped in the 51R, nothing was wrong with the OEM panny but i was doing a long road trip with the gf's family. one less thing to worry about.

first couple cranks, there was an obvious difference, much faster and sounded more powerful (if that makes sense). But after that its pretty much the same...

^^^ You're in Texas. Up here in the barren winter tundras, our batteries take a lot more abuse. Extreme heat isn't the greatest thing for batteries but it's far less detrimental than the cold.

Tsx 06 MT, bought new 11/17/06, has 54,000+ miles. Still with the OEM battery. No problems with it. Do alot of long distance highway driving.

You are fine. My 04 TSX bought in May 2004 had 57K, the OEM just die on me without any warning. I had to borrow some juices before i drove it home and the battery indicator still shows blue.

So.... it lasts 4 years. Drop a new battery from Costco and sold the old one to them for $9.

During a Canadian winter, park your TSX somewhere and leave your HIDs on for about 10-15 minutes. You're guaranteed to need a boost from a bypasser.

I know people don't usually leave their headlights on for no reason, but I've never seen a brand-new battery being this cheesy in any car(not even a Kia, let alone a "Premium" brand like Acura)

Usually batteries lose charge overnight when you've left something on or if there's a wiring problem.

The TSX battery is laughable at best.

I can't seem to find the answer and I searched my Owners Manual info with no luck. Whats the warranty of the OEM battery?

Its been 2 yrs and we're still talking about the crappy battery huh? Hard to believe my car is over 3 yrs old. lol
