Well you do have a manual that came with the car right? Look up the maintenance required for that distance. I would follow that. There should be normal and severe maintenance schedules. I would follow the severe to be safe.

Also, if missing the manual, look in the FAQ section. Dan Martin was nice enough to organize and it includes the mainenance schedules.

Dpending on where you live and the conditions can also play into effect. I live in Arizona, so I run a 10/30 weight instead of 5/30 because of the heat, I add Water Wetter to my coolant to help it run cooler, etc. Def check out the FAQ sections and if you do some searches, you will find information for sure.

Why pay for what I can do myself? Other than major services, if I have the tools, I'd much rather do my own work.

Yes, I'm dangerous with a wrench too. LOL

No, seriously, just change the oil and filter, engine air filter and PCV valve, as well as the in-cabin microfilter(s).

Change the transmission fluid if funds permit as well.

Not that its expensive, $30-$35 for 10 quarts of ATF and a gasket, but since it isn't mandatory, I didn't want to act "pushy" and say that you MUST change certain fluids even though it isn't mandatory according to the manufacturer.

Since this is the first fluid change, I suggest draining and refilling the transmission first (by removing the drain plug so that you can clean off the "junk" from the magnetic drain plug) with 3 quarts of Pennzoil or Quaker State Multi-Vehicle ATF and MAKE SURE that you refill with 3 quarts before proceeding to the next step.

Then, disconnect the return line from the cooler and set it aside. Next, attach a hose to the outlet from the cooler (where the hose used to be) and place it in a gallon milk jug. Start the car, and pour new fluid into the line that you had set aside earlier at the same rate that the fluid is being pumped out. Pour six quarts of new fluid in to remove all of the old fluid from the system, the color should change once you've replaced all of the old fluid.

After you're done, reconnect the hoses and double check that the drain and fill plugs were tightened.

Now, do a simple drain/refill every 15-20K thereafter...no need to "exchange" the fluid again.

jlukja,
That was from my memory...roughly how you do it...I may not have been 100% clear, but that is the general idea.
