Looking to buy a TSX

hey guys hows it goin.
I currently drive a 03 dodge ram, gets about 12mpg...
im looking to buy a new car, im 18 and my dad is ganna help me pay for it. he would drive it some times so it has to be something he likes too. we were looking at the audi a4s... seems a little too expensive to me, we "built" one online came out to about $37k thats with quatro/premium package/technology pakage.
i also built a tsx AT w/o nav. i only added like 2 things... metal look trim/ wheel locks. and that was like $28k which seems like a better price.
so if i went to the dealer, how much do you think i could get the price down to?
is nav a good think to have??
what are some pros and cons with the TSX?
whats the average mpg?

(sorry for making it kinda long)

On a non-navi, you can get the dealer down below $27k easily. Good on gas (22 city, 31 hwy). The only problem in that department is that it's recommended you fuel up with at least 91 octane gas. The car is fun to drive. It handles great. It has ample power, but it's not going to snap your neck off the line.

I find the navigation system incredibly useful for a couple of reasons. 1) I work all over the place, so I can use the navigation to guide me to work when I haven't been to that particular store before. 2) I have a horrible sense of direction... really... I get lost in my own town. lol. The navigation is not necessary by any means, but it's pretty cool and makes the dash look better than the standard headunit.

18 years old and getting a TSX... It kind of makes me less proud of my purchase. I just graduated and started working full time making really good money for a new grad. I upgraded from my '97 Integra to an '06 TSX to sort of symbolize my moving up in the world. It's the first car I ever purchased on my own, and now I come on this site and see 18 and 20 year olds with the car. Sort of makes me wish I had gotten the TL instead... of course it would have been for a stupid reason.

Anyway... to answer the question again. The TSX is a great car. You'll like it. Your dad will like it. I recommend it.

Eh, even if you dont get the nav system you should get the 6mt model. the 5at model is pretty decent if you're really not into cars that much, but kind of a yawn if you like sporty cars.

I'm in the same boat. But hey, we should be proud of being able to buy a near 30k car on our own just out of college.

im 100% with you on that one.
the only reason i have to get the AT is my mother might have to drive it and she cant drive a stick.... in the 2-3years of having my truck, my mother only drove it 5 times at the most.

Ditto, but I am sure these "kids" are rolling their eyes at us right now. (and I just sounded old there) One thing I can't understand is how the 18-21 year olds can afford all those mods...while they're in school. oh well

Famous47 there is a prices paid forum (you may have already found it) and you can see what others are paying with different options. I did all my research using Edmunds.com. I got my '06 non-nav 6spd for $26.5k (before TTL).

Good luck and you'll enjoy it. Another thing (other than price) to keep you away from Audis is their horrible reliability. Had they had better reliability I would probably be an Audi A3 owner right now.

I don't understand how they afford the mods either. I remember trying to put new speakers in my Integra while I was in school. It literally took me a year to save up, and after buying them, I was dead broke. If I had $1,000 in my account, I thought I was rich. lol

Don't worry about adding wheel locks or trunk tray etc. when you buy the car.
When i bought the TSX the dealer throws in Trunk Tray, All season floor mats, wheel locks and mud guards free. Of course i was paying cash so that could be the factor.
You can always negotiate on the added stuff, usually they'll give them to you.

They threw in the floor mats and wheel locks for free when I bought my car, and I financed it. Even though they knocked 2 grand off the MSRP for me, they still made plenty of profit on the car. They could afford to throw in the mats and wheel locks. I'm sure most dealers will do this also.
