okay im pretty new to the whole car mod thing. If i were to install a cold air intake on my tsx would there be any required maintenience for the intake?

nope. Other than normal filter maintenance your intake should be maintenance free.

 

what do you mean by normal filter maintenance? do i replace the filter every so miles?

 

The stock intake has an air filter ("air cleaner element") that you have to replace every 30K miles. If you get the Comptech Icebox you will receive a Comptech filter to replace the stock air filter. If you get AEM, Injen etc then you will get the intake tubing and a filter that fits on the end of the tubing behind the front left fog lamp. You will need to service these filters every xx miles per the manufacturers recommendation.

 

The intake filter itself must be maintained every so often. The K&N filter, for example, needs to be cleaned and lubricated with a special intake cleaner every 30,000 miles.

For 13 bucks, this kit will keep your filter optimal for about as long as you own the car.

I just put a K&N filter in my car... Hopefully it'll be worth the money!
