lol so ironic!

I don't know if you guys remembered, but i was asking how should I empty out my washer fluid so I can just put fresh Rain-X washer fluid in there. So I took the advice of siphoning it and then just running the system dry. I did that, and i filled up my tank with rain x fluid. It almost took in the entire bottle...the draining part took at least 15 mins to fully drain from the small tube I had. heres the ironic part, I found out a few days ago that my dealer actually puts Rain X fluid in our res tanks! Get this, my acura dealer also recommends Lexol for the leather.

Thats quality I can appreciate.

How do you like the Rain-X fluid? I've been battling streaking/smearing after switching to winter-deicing fluid. Looking for something better than the cheapo blue stuff.

FWIW, on detailing sites like Autopia, the consensus is that the RainX washer fluid will leave a slimey residue & eat away at your wax or other LSP. For the winter, most will use the Prestone De-Icer fluid, and use water plus 303 tablets in the summer.

Prestone has a liquid de-icer additive that you add to water to create your own fluid (similar to doing it the 303 tabs route). I bought some at Wal-Mart the other day. I'm going to try this additive in my TSX for the winter as Prestone claims that they do not harm/eat away at waxes/LSPs.

I have come to hate Rain X windshield washer fluids with a passion. It's next to the worst you can have for highway driving besides a bucketful of salty water.

I agree... I find it's the ONLY fluid that will cause my wipers to chatter.

I use Motomaster TEFLON (Canadian Tire, or use the Petro-Canada stuff). It's purple, and makes the wipers operate very smoothly even at high speeds, and it melts frost and ice fairly easily. Also, supposedly much less harmful to paint/wax, and doens't have that chemical that can make you or animals blind, like Rain-X does.

I am glad I read this thread. I was wondering if Rain - X (which I just grabbed from my dad for the car) was safe/good. If its gonna eat my LSP there is no way I am going to use it. I had not gotten around to looking into that yet. I probably have about 3/4s of the resevoir filled with it though,...should I try to siphon it out? Rain - X is a neon yellow colour right?

I wonder where I can get the Prestone stuff,........Canadian tire? Maybe I will try out the Motomaster Teflon stuff,.....hmmm.

I didn't like the Motomaster teflon stuff. I tried it once, thought it froze and streaked worse than the regular gas station wiper fluid. I just look for a wiper fluid that is good to the lowest temperature that I can buy.

I posted this in another thread but I'll try here. Anyone have any problems with clogged/iced up nozzles? My driver's side seems to be clogged / iced up again.

Use a windshield washer fluid with a stronger anti freezing agent.

I feel your pain

A word to the wise. Next time ask the question before you do anything. There will always be a lot of good advice and options for your review. At least your first effort won't end up costing you any big $$'s.
