Hmm...
I have been lurking over in the TL section latley and noticed the general opinion over there is the TSX is just a "four door integra with navigation". Granted the car does have a 4 banger...but what makes the TL soooo much better? or should I say more luxurious than the TSX?. One guy said something about "we get a cargo net standard." I know the car is larger and more powerful but what does that have to do with luxury or refinement?. When I drove a TL the build quality felt a little cheesy. When I drive my TSX I get a feeling of solidness and quality. Could it be its build location...who knows. It wouldn't make sense to say the TSX is a nicer car than the TL, it's a lower level car. Maybe it is just me being a little over protective but I just don't get it. Are TSX owners people who can't afford a TL and settle for a TSX? I don't think that's the case. Does anyone else feel like tthis? Thanks

Bottom Line:
I'm not a hater and I like the TL too but....
Interior: TSX>TL
Exterior: TSX>TL
Handling: TSX>TL
Value: TSX>TL
The only thing TL edges out is in the engine
Engine TL > TSX

The tl is a nice car and I could have actually bought one instead of the tsx but the tsx is so much nicer. Its small and compact. Its handling is way better than that of the Tl and imo the interior is nicer aswell. The Tl is more bigger and has more power. whoop dee doo. I just saved myself 5 grand!

Sorry, I am not trying to start anything...I just traded my CL so I didn't really know there was alot of these TL vs. TSX threads. I was just thinking out loud and wanted some logical opinions.

for me, it wasn't about money.
I test drove a TL and it felt big & heavy to me... and it seemed disconnected from the road.
the TSX felt right. that's the only way i can describe it.

But since you asked, my :
TSX - Smaller, (very) nimble handling, adequate but not exceptional power, but very nice motor nonetheless for an I-4. Feature package almost unmatched for the price.
TL - Larger, more luxurious, more powerful, less nimble, significantly more expensive.
I also think the TSX is a classier look, but that's very subjective.

I Quit
I bought the TSX over the TL just because of the modifications that can be done. There isn't much out there for the TL.... I loved the TL it felt great, but I wanted something I could play with.

TSX has much better resale value and I think design of TL is getting old. Engine is really nice though

tsx is more well balanced imo. sporty, And luxury~ well built..Very well built. the tl is hell of a nice car too. gets better name as it is a stronegr, bigger car. but style, performance(not just speed), quality, and the feel is wayy better in the tsx.

I got a TL as a loner when I took my TSX for service, and It felt big and heavy to me (but I do agree that the engine is really nice). I missed my TSX. The TSX is a lot more fun to drive.
I also had a 94 Integra, and It is nothing like the TSX.
I love my TSX.

i wouldn't wanna say TSX is a lower level car.........and this is a bad way of describing TSX for car enthusiasts.

i like both cars and could've easily gotten the TL but i liked the exterior and the compact size of the TSX; which is why i got the TSX and never had any regrets. all in all, any Acura is good for me.
oh yeah, i still have an Integra and the TSX is no 4-Door Integra.

You have personal preference for the TL, but I think most people here had their reasons for getting the TSX, of which money is probably one of the more minor reasons.

I like the TL. But when I went to the dealership to look at both cars the TL just felt too big for me. I felt swamped when I sat in the drivers seat. I like a car that fits snuggly around the driver. I wanted something smaller and sportier. I would of loved to have the V6 engine but I wasn't about to get a bigger car that was $5K more. I like the look and feel of the TSX more and it all together feels younger and more spirited. Plus around my area all you see is TL's and the average person driving them is a 40 something woman, but you rarely see any TSX's. That is not to say I won't upgrade to the TL in a few years, but right now the TSX is the perfect car for me.

I actually was in the market for a TL and didn't even consider a TSX. I test drove the TL and found it a bit large for me. I saw a TSX on the showroom floor and was impressed. The next day, I test drove a TSX and bought it. It really all depends on personal feellings - for me, it really wasn't about the cost of the car. The TL was certainly affordable, but the TSX just felt better. Those who think it's all about money have egos that tend to get in the way of sense, I suppose.

"four door integra with navigation"
By that line of thought, they might as well accept that their cars are just prettied up American-market Accord grocery getters with HID lights. Heck, at least TSX hails from the European and Japanese markets, not the Camccord market for fat-a$$, lazy Amuricans who prefer to Barcolounge while behind the wheel. I'm surprised people who think like that even managed to settle on their TL's instead of something, say, from Dodge. After all, HP and size are everything here...especially to those whose intellects, er I mean, mentalities lean toward the "that dern thing gotta HEMI? I bet you a can of Bud I can smoke you at the light" way of thought.
BTW, I'm no TL hater. I almost bought one. I just liked the TSX better. Yes, there are plenty of people who will voluntarily buy the pathetic little TSX over the TL. Both TSX and TL (and all cars, in fact) have their merits and shortcomings. People have a tendency to say "Car X is a 10!!!" and "Car Y is a 0" even if neither one deserves such extremes. Neither car is so bad that anybody should HATE it, even though when you read the boards you get the distinct impression that the other car must be one of the worst cars on the market.
In the bigger is always better and quantity-over-quality U.S. market, it's really unfortunate that the TSX is such an easy target and gets a lot of cr@p, all because it lacks the one thing that American's value most - cylinders, and therefore that put 'er in "D", close your eyes 'cuz the road is as straight as your little Johnson is ("big engine, little ?"), and stomp on the gas acceleration, I dunno, presumably so you can get to the package store that much faster or something?
