headlight question

Has anybody else noticed that when you turn on your headlights (Xenons) it gets very bright for a second when they go on, and then goes back down to the normal brightness? I just wanted to make sure this was normal and not just mine.

i think it should be the other way around...it starts out a bit dim and then brightens as it warms up.

Yeah, mine are really blue at first. Then they brighten up and the blue fades a little.

the whiter light is brighter. the bluer light that you first get when you turn on your hids are not as bright as the the white light it becomes after it warms up. thats just how hids work

It's entirely possible that you get full brightness for a fraction of a second then have it fade to blue, and all within the same second, brighten up to full brightness permenantly. The balasts for HID's are amazingly complicated devices from an electrical standpoint and this is a fairly common occurance.

From what I can remember from someone explaining it to me once, the resistance of an HID light decreases as the voltage increases up to the point where the bulbs are at their intended operating temperature, then the resistance, voltage, and brightness stabilizes.

It's normal. Here's a vid of my hids warming up (not on the TSX though) for a very brief second they are bright for a second then blue and slowly white.
