Hi people,

I started my lease (48months) on September but there has been a big change in our lives so my wife and I are leaving US for about a couple of years or more. Last night, we came up with this idea to actually own the car, that is, convert our lease to a loan. Nope, we don't have enough money to pay off.

I was wondering if anyone has experience on refinancing this way. If so, how would I proceed?

Here is a strike against the "lease" category in the hot lease vs. buy debate... I would talk to your dealer and see what it would cost you to get out of the lease vs. what it would cost you to buy the car. Either way you are going to take a hit, you are just going to have to take the hit that hurts the least...

 

there are sites where you can pay someone to take your lease. but if you don't have the money to make it worthwhile for someone... you're SOL.
